Polls, rankings and bowl projections

Jesus Christ, we are not as good as No. 19 but definitely not as bad as some of you guys claim. We lost to a decent usc team on the road and suddenly we were lucky to beat UCLA only because we played them early?

Have some confidence guys, we will be going to a decent bowl in the end of the season. I thought all the playoffs talks were crazy and just for fun, seems like it really got into some people's minds.

Yeah I don’t get the UCLA comments. Buffs dominated the Bruins two weeks ago. They didn’t all of a sudden become world beaters that would crush us since then.

Reactions to a loss are always over the top. We got beat, soundly. We've beat several teams soundly. This still looks like an 8 win team to me.

As a Cal fan (my PhD was there; I don't follow Cal football nearly as closely as CU but I do still watch and root for them), yesterday was as brutal as it gets. A year that Cal came into it expecting a bowl game, then we have a rough road loss to Arizona and follow it up by being bludgeoned by a winless team on homecoming.

We're fine. We should be favored in Vegas (which is all most pay attention to IMO) in the last five after UW. Can still win 8 and hopefully more. Would still love to play in the Alamo Bowl (there's our game in Texas this year guys) because the odds of OU or Texas landing there are pretty high.

Like this. Not sure I want any part of OU even though their defense is like wet tissue paper.

Winning 8 or more games this year would be a very successful season. I like a trip to the Holiday bowl though. Another bounce with SoCal recruits and a better chance for us to get a bowl win.

RIght now we are 5-1. In all possibility we will be 5-2 after this next week. Just playing the averages.
I don't see us losing to anybody else, except MAYBE Utah at the worst. I expect to roll everybody else. Cal will be tough,
but they can be handled.

9-3, 10-2 are both achievable this season. Maybe 8-4 at worst.

At the start of the season, I think most of us would have agreed that any of those three would be a successful season as we were picked to be last in the south again.

I'm hoping for 10 wins, but 9 would make me very happy.
10 wins gets us in the top 20 more than likely. A bowl win could launch us up a bit, as well.

Roll Wazzu? Careful.

even if we win out? I don't see us in the CCG. usc will win out if you look at their schedule. We had our shot, and missed it.

I think USC loses this weekend at Utah and Colorado controls its own destiny in the South again.
Only true if CU beats UW. I don't see USC losing again in conference so CU pretty much has to run the table. It kills me that they lost Saturday- could have been up essentially by 3 games and instead are down essentially one.

Saw some other projections from ESPN that put us in Alamo or Holiday still. Either would be a good bowl, and would have aligned with my highest potential preseason hope.

Oregon wins out and wins P12 CG to go to the CFP. UW and SC battle it out the rest of the way for the Rose/Alamo, and CU/Utah/WSU battle it out the rest of the way for the Holiday, Vegas and Sun bowls. That's probably the most likely scenario, IMO, unless Oregon loses again and the Pac gets left out of the CFP. Then everything just gets bumped down a notch and CU is competing for the cheez-its bowl or whatever.

Fair point. I could easily see UW, UO and USC getting the Rose/ Alamo/ Holiday, as you say.

Oregon is our last hope for the CFP, short of CU winning out and going 11-1, so as much as it pains me to say it, we really should be rooting for Oregon from here on out. Not only for conference affiliation int he CFP, but also to get CU a better bowl.

Oregon isn't getting into the CFP, and I'll give you three reasons why: Bowling Green, Portland State, and San Jose State. All 16 semifinalists have played at least one power 5 opponent.
