CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

I will say this again, those flights have nothing to do with the coaching hire. They are flying from Hartsfield, the busiest f'ing airport in the world. No time sensitive business would fly out of there unless absolutely necessary. That is why they have to schedule so far in advance, so that they can get the departure window. The only reason to fly out of there would be for a pre-planned trip, two airplanes would be for the size of the party.
They aren't going to be dealing with the general plebeian flight hassle at ATL. Plenty of private, chartered business flights fly out of there all the time. Also what makes this trip time sensitive? He has to fly out tomorrow for a press conference Thursday or Friday.

Pretty sure almost every single flight has to be scheduled at a specific time there, well in advance, you miss your window, good luck. It isn't that you can't, it is just very inconvenient to most biz travelers. Most business aircraft would use DeKalb.

SHUT UP!! IT’S HIM, DAMMIT!

:ROFLMAO:
You guys are a trip. We’ll hear when we hear. They know what they’re doing.

Think of it this way - if you worry and it turns out to be great news, you will have worried for no reason. If you worry and it’s bad news, you wasted a period of blissful ignorance, and worrying didn’t help anyway. So don’t worry, live your life, we’ll have real stuff to talk about soon.

Have you been following CU football for the last 15 years ? I'll worry until he's announced. Thank you very much. (y)

Kumba****ingya!

"Tower, this is UNICORN 1 on final approach."

"UNICORN1, why are you flying in parallel to a second identical aircraft?"

"Tower, because I WANT TO."

"Roger, UNICORN 1. 2nd flight, designated UNICORN 2. Permissions granted to land"

FYI, for future reference (and I don't mean to sound pedantic or anything) in aviation-speak you don't get "permissions" from ATC to do things like land, you get clearance. Usually followed by a runway designation.

I'm ready for the HC hiring to be done so I can fully dedicate myself to freaking out over the assistant coaches and recruiting class. I feel like I'm neglecting those things right now.
Don't forget about whether our new HC, whomever they may be, will allow open practices or not. Because, that's critical.

I don't think many schools have open practices these days. I would be surprised if this changed. Any clue what UGA does?

This is not entirely accurate. With the charter terminal, which they have 24 hours is easily enough time to get faa clearance to 2 planes in and out of hartsfield.

"UNICORN1 cleared 2000 mile final on RWY 30. Wind 0 @ 0 like you want them. Exit 30 at Cupcake, contact ground with sprinkles."

Holy ****. This has gone on so long we’re all now bickering about the correct terminology used when calling the tower to land a plane and whether or not a plane flying here is going to be carrying the new coach or if it’s even logistically feasible.

This is pure gold. I’m sorry but there’s 20+ grown ass adult men here (maybe women?) arguing over the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. Lmao. Super fans.

Hey man - this is ***ing important stuff!

This whole argument is just plane dumb.

We are going down a path that will eventually lead us to a terminal conclusion but right now there is a lot of winging it taking off around here.

Just buckle up and wait for some real confirmation.
Mountain! I love AB. Best $40 I spend all year. It is $40, right?

FWIW - the lady at Independence Community College’s switchboard said in no uncertain terms that she has “No idea when the press conference for Mel Tucker will be scheduled.” And she also “has no clue whatsoever” about Tucker’s private jet nor any information about his travel logistics.

Finally she reiterated in an exasperated tone that, “Colorado fans must stop calling Independence Community College with questions about your football program.”

Anybody else run into that bitchy attitude?
