2018-2019 Coaching Carousel..

Wait, Cleveland fired their coach? After the best year they’ve had in decades? Wut?

WOW Mark Richt just retired

Talked to my dad and hour ago. He said the word on the street was that they were pressuring Richt to shake up the offensive staff because they were lackluster relative to their talent when they had the ball. Richt supposedly resisted this pressure. Richt's son, by the way, is the QB coach. So Mark opted to retire.

I don't know if duh U could afford him

On the Manny Diaz thing I guess the buyout was only $4 million compared to Cristobal's $10mil. Hence it being cheaper but man, getting it done in like 12 hours is pretty epic.

Correct on Richt thing. AD alluded to discussions. Diaz has already canned SC coach. More expected on O.

Getting paid very good money to be coach for life at his alma mater is not a bad deal. It's not like that fanbase is going to be calling for his head if he has a couple of off years. I think I'd stay put.
Well, Fitzgerald just said he's a Wildcat for life and he's not going anywhere in the postgame interview.

Feels like the right time to start talking about adding a Houston to the conference!!! It takes 2-3 years to onboard a new member and you would want them to be at full speed when new media comes into new term. Houston is committed.

2 to 3 years? We only played 1 more year in the Big 12 after the Pac-12 deal was reached. When divorce becomes inevitable both sides will usually find a way to make it happen quickly.

1 year of discussion and agreements (2019)
1 final year in the old conference (2020)
1-2 years of minimal or partial payouts under old TV deal (2021-2022)
New deal starts in 2023 as full member under new deal

Hope we can hold onto Kap then as I'm sure Fedora will want him, he even followed Diaz.

There was some talk that Kap and Fedora were not completely on the same page, and Kap could have been let go if somehow NC kept Fedora, so I am not as worried that he would want him back, rather good time to move on apart. Just me speculating off comments here and there.

That would make for great TV: Tilman Fertitta sitting across from Larry Scott at the negotiating table. Wonder if he would make him come back with a better pitch for the finale.

Larry Scott probably wouldn’t get a deal even though Fertitta wanted to make it work very badly.

This would make too much sense for Larry Scott. This would be a great move based on the Houston/Texas market and opening up the pipeline for the conference. You would need a second member though, I’m not sure who. I’m sure Texas would be unhappy with another P5 school though.
