i was wondering if the rams were ever respected in division I college football. or do they just suck plain ass 24/7?

I refuse to bash them, I root for them in all games but CU.

I'm with you, born and raised in colorado. When a colorado team sucks it makes the whole state look bad. The only rule change to that is I HATE Air Force, I have a very good excuse, long story...lets just say they get away with a lot of ****

I want to say it was the '90 season when CU, CSU, and Air Force all had very good seasons and all competed in very good bowl games.

Boo!

See, I love Air Force, but I refuse to cheer for the Lambs

CSU being good does NOTHING FOR CU. It doesn't help our strength of schedule much and as far as the colorado teams thingy, too bad.

They spew much hate for cu and as cowtown,buffsin2008, inthebuff and I hold the cu torch over there, they are just behind NU in the hate department for me.

Now, they have some cool posters over there but if they lose every game i'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

The problem I have,we say they suck so bad but we continue to struggle to beat them. If our recruiting classes are so much better, why are we beating them by last second fg's?

Don't respond with it's their superbowl or cu is in a no win situation because that is a wussy cop out. Go out and kick some a$$ this year, we brag about our recruiting being so much better and laugh at their recruiting. BLOW THEM OUT THEN.

Where do you hold the CU torch?

I hold it against my family, who are all Lambs

I was pretty indiffernt to the Goats while at CU (88-90), they just simply didn't matter. 90-97, they didn't really matter then either. They got over on the Buffs in 99 and 00, and then, to hear goat fan tell it, they were on the verge of a FSU like run. CU spanked them in 01, the goats won 02, then CU reeled off three in a row. Of course, all the while goat fan was making like the series was actually interesting, when in reality it was an anomaly. I do give them credit for at least getting to some semblance of competitiveness. The goats got over on CU in 05 during the early days of the post GB rebuild. CU won last year. Now CSewe goes back to being irrelevant. That's how I see it. I really don't care about Goat U. one way or the other at this point....nobody else does either after the first week of the season.

yes they have... and I don't dislike them any more than any other program we play... everyone has crappy fans...

Its not good karma to dislike and hate. Wastes energy better spent doing something productive.... like drinking beer for instance.

haha

fair enough.

I went to the game last year for my bachelor party, and we got seats at the North end of the stadium, in the section bordering the CSU student section. A buddy of mine (and a CU grad) was walking up to our seats, hollering about CU and waving his hat around. Some CSU students gang-tackled him DOWN THE STAIRS. They kept at him until he was at the entrance to the tunnel.... where he turned to an event staffer and said "Do you see what is happening?!"

They let him up... so he went to the railing above the tunnel, sat on top of it, in front of the whole CSU student section and started yelling and waving his hat again. Same guys came down, grabbed his hat, and threw it down into the CSU band.

It was hilarious, and about 5 minutes after my buddy got to his seat, the cops came up an kicked out/arrested the CSU punks.

The best part was by the end of the game, the CSU fans were fighting amongst themselves. Guys in the luxury box were throwing beer at the students, and CSU students were cussing out the folks in the luxury box, and throwing soda at them.

Hilarious.

Then again they are alcoholics. Just a step above us.

Well, they were ranked for quite a few years and went to bowl games on a continuous basis, so you'd have to say they were respected. Here's their final rankings:
1994- 16
1995- NR
1996- NR
1997- 17
1998- NR
1999- NR
2000- 14

Don't go bringing facts into an emotional irrational hate filled thread. :smile2:

AHEM...

Sonny did do a great job. I think they had only been to like two bowls ever before his arrival. In Sonny's prime, he dominated the MWC and tookt he rams to many bowls. They also played on Thursday nights a lot and that got them nationally known.
Sonny couldn't keep it up though and Fairchild has his work cut out for him, because the Rams are closer to what they were before Sonny than they were under Sonny's prime. I don't really see them being like they were under Sonny in the late 90's ever again, but who knows.

As far as a them being a thorn in CU's side let me explain something. CU has dominated this series, and when CU has had the better overall talent, usually CU dominates.

CU vs. CSU facts

-CU leads 58-19-2
-CU won the first matchup in 1893 70-6
-It took the Rams 15 tries before they beat the Buffs for the first time.
-CSU's longest winning streak over CU is 3 games, which they did twice.
-CU has shutout CSU 23 times in the series. Thats right, CU has shutout CSU more times than CSU has beaten CU.
-The godfather of CSU football, Sonny was 4-9 against the buffs. Half of those games were against mediocre CU teams at best.

I used to root for CSU, but after seeing how their fans act towards CU, I lost all respect for the lambs.

We were beating them at last second FG's because the talent was pretty even. I would even venture to say that CSU had a little more talent offensivly the last couple years. However with the talent upgrades now that Hawk is here expect the series to be less competitive. It will soon be like it was before when we would stomp them 42-14.

I'd like to replace ISU with CSU in the B12.
- ISU is too far away for a road trip. CU fans would therefore get a better rep for travelling. (Plus kNU and the other B12 teams would have farther to travel every year.)
- CSU would get BCS money, raising the profile of college FB in the state. I'd argue that a better CSU is good for the development of high school players.
- There'd be one more legit reason for the B12 championship game to be held in Denver.
- An other OCC opponent could be scheduled.

I don't hate CSU no matter what their fans do or say. Two wrongs don't make a right. The way the economics of NCAAFB are going, CSU will find it harder and harder to keep up.
