Other games thread -- Conference Play!

On GameDay, they just had Olajuwon and Elvin Hayes on. I didn't see them play in college, other than on like ESPN Classic or whatever. I think Olajuwon had the best footwork of any big I've ever seen. I knew he didn't play basketball as a kid, I didn't know he was 17 when he started playing, that's crazy.:D
Olajuwon grew up playing soccer. He had great feet, great balance, and he never seemed to get tired.

how is W State a 10 point fav on the road against Cal -coming off the Wash upset?

Illinois, Syracuse, and NC State too. I bet Bison is some small DI school's name too, even though I can only think of ND State. Whoever asked the question by saying 6 was really wrong. That's like asking name the four programs that have won back to back national championships. Most will probably come up with four, but there have been a few others.

If you're gonna name NC State you have to name Nevada too, come on.

another misplaced post: had dinner in a bar last night and the guy next to me challenged me to name 'the 6 college teams whose mascot name doesn't end in an "S". with a few beers in me, i only got 4, but after i named one, he changed it to 7 teams. even though names like "Buffalo" are plural, we all say Buffalos, so that doesn't count. haven't checked to see if he was right - but no using electronic research.
there are actually 12-15 depending on if you only count D1 football, bball, etc

Crimson Tide
Fighting Irish
Midshipmen
Orange
Green Wave
Golden Hurricane
Cardinal (Furd)
Wolfpack (NCST)
Wolfpack (NV)
Mean Green (N. TX)

Red Storm (St. Johns) - bball only

All I can come up with right now

P.S. I love this question in all it's variants

Seeding update, possibilities of 3-9seed :

3 Seed Scenario:

CU to win out
OSU to lose out (@UW, @WSU)
Utah to lose at least one (USC, UCLA)

4 Seed Scenario
CU to win out
Utah to lose at least one (USC, UCLA)
or
OSU to lose out (@UW, @WSU)

5 Seed Scenario:
CU wins out

Crucial Tiebreakers:
OSU over CU (H2H)
CU over Utah (If they end up tied, CU would have to sweep the LA schools, and Utah would have to lose to one. LA schools would be highest ranking conference wins)
CU over USC (If CU wins)
CU over UCLA (If CU wins or if CU loses, CU has a victory over ASU)
USC over CU (If USC wins, split H2H but USC has a victory over Stanford)

Which CU team shows up for these last two games? There is no reason they can't win out, setting up the opportunity for a bye in the first round pending the other outcomes you outline.

The likeliest outcome, IMO, is:

CU wins out
OSU splits (Loss to UW, win at WSU)
Utah splits (Loss to USC, win vs UCLA)

That would result in the 4 seed. Tad's first, first round bye.

Air Force is giving away 1000 tickets to their game against #17 Nevada tonight. if anyone wants the promo code, shoot me a PM.

Oh, do not want the 3 seed if that means we have a very high probability to play OSU in our first game...

We want to get into the NCAA tournament we're probably going to have beat them, UW, and more than likely both. Bring on the rodents.

Wow ... exciting end to the first half in Cal @ Stanford. Bears up by 13.

Who’s got the simple straightforward pac-12 tiebreaker scenarios for me?

Most likely scenarios appear to be CU at the 4 or 5 seed.

According to Tzisk on Twitter, only single scenarios lead to the 3, 6, or 7.

Need some help unfortunately...

Probably the best outcome if we don’t get a bye
Yes- I still think that this team can hang with anyone in the Pac12 (mostly because the entire conference is garbage) so I am holding out hope for another miracle run in the P12 tourney to fuel a trip to the dance. Getting an extra win in the first round of the tourney against Cal does nothing to help the goal of making the postseason and presents one more chance for things to go wrong.

The only Pac-12 team I wouldn't give our Buffs a coin flip or better chance of beating is Washington.
