Mel Tucker leaves CU for Michigan State

Oh yeah, I forgot you don't take any of this too seriously. Carry on

Well, now you know why.

Between the Buffs, Dolphins, and now Broncos its been a long tired run of getting upset about things that I have no control over. Though I was starting to believe with the Tucker hire that we were getting back on the right path.

Money is making this business feel more like the NFL. The more the money grows the scummier this going to get. There is no loyalty it seems.

RG got us Mel Tucker. My belief is he will find us someone else of the same caliber. I just wish we could keep someone so there was consistency again.

My husband's first words upon waking me this morning were "So Tucker is taking the job at Michigan State...' I was confused for a few seconds, as we have a nephew with that name and I was wondering why he'd want to go to MSU. Once I realized "OOOOH - that Tucker," we talked a bit about it. He referred to the amount of money they were offering MT as an "arms race" that CU didn't need to be in.

And I think he has a point. MSU was desperate and is ponying up a HUGE amount of money to a 1-year HC with only 5 wins. We hear about mediocre coaches getting fired and bought out for $$$ all the time. Coaches are leaving schools all the time for ever-thicker stacks of cash.

And players are penalized because of the transfer portal or pulling out of LOIs. These kids get scholarships and "big man on campus" type perks, but most of them get a degree (if they are lucky) and life-long injuries (if they are not).

It all seems messed up. I really feel for these kids.

Very confused about how a coach at one institution can have something to do with another related to coaching and interference???

According to The Detroit News, Saban reportedly assisted with Michigan State's coaching search and gave Tucker his seal of approval.

**** you Saban, **** you MSU

There is nothing wrong with what Saban did.

God, I hope not.

What do you gain by coming into these threads during times like these and making condescending comments? If you are indifferent because of so much letdown in your sports fandom, then just refrain from being part of the discussions.

Just a reference. I’m sure RG talked to Saban a while back as well

I feel sorry for the basketball team. Freakin killing it right now on the court and should be getting tons of national attention. Now Mel Tucker and coaching talk with take over the CU narrative

Its ok, they have a big opportunity to change that narrative very soon.

In hindsight, it bugged me that Tucker had a habit of running out in front of the team, and he seldom gave his assistants opportunities to speak. I didn’t hear much from Chev or the other coaches starting with camp. I chalked it up to him building his brand in year 1. Little did I know that the brand he was building was mostly about Mel.

Can’t spell Mel with out Me first.

How many Clemson, Georgia, Bama, etc assistants do you hear from? How many Coordinators or other assistants lead their programs out on the field? College football is 100% about the head coach and building the brand. Bigger the brand of the HC, the more high level recruits want to play there. They were taking the right approach with Tucker. Everything was done extremely well and CU was on it's way.

Did you know there is an ignore feature. I just put you on it.

Im sorry you are upset. Im still a fan. Im just a rabid fan anymore. I'll post as I see fit.

A digression....

My building has the most God awful muzak. It is a mix of 80, 90's music, often reduced to some crappy rendition by an unknown studio band. Occasionally, we are treated to the original artists rendition, but that is usually limited to such musical giants as Boyz II Men and Debbie Gibson. On this fine day, however, it was Stray Cats "Rock This Town", original artist version, playing as I headed to the john.

Standing before the mirror is a tall skinny dude in blue jeans, a blue jean jacket and sunglasses, combing his long greasy black hair with a black plastic pocket comb. I so much wanted ask: "when do you go on stage?", but I didn't.

As I sat listening to Brian Setzer belt out his tune, it came to me. As far as the last HC goes, we should just flush.

Not a good look by George to be sure.
The players are obviously pretty pissed off if you look at twitter and stuff. If you consider they were told he was coming back on Saturday on social media and then they didn't talk to him and he was gone a couple days later I don't think it was a good idea to let them have a farewell meeting.

Nobody is going to read past the point in this post where you derided Debbie Gibson.

I just talked to the athletic office about my renewal. I asked about how everything was going today and she said they have as many renewals today as they have had any other day up to this point. She also mentioned that the overall mentality was positive and people were excited to renew and support the school and kids.
