Those games are allsome when there's an upset or near-upset. Some of the most memorable moments of a season. But over 90% of those games suck and you never know which ones will be worth watching so no one tunes in to watch until maybe game updates drive them there in the 4th quarter.

Not to mention, this alliance doesn’t necessarily mean there won’t be those body bag games. It won’t do the other three conferences any good if they switch for a full P5 schedule as long as the SEC is still doing 8 conference games and 3/4 of their OOC are against G5/FCS

I know what you are saying since I have made the trek on I-81 in SW VA numerous times and that means getting on I-40 towards Nashville which I have been to a few times.

And yes that is a long drive from Nashville to Denver.

I discovered there is basically nothing in West Kansas except fields and windmills.

My kids actually did alright on the drive, but my marriage may never recover, ha.

I might try and make it back out to Colorado next Fall and catch a Buffs game then. Any recommendations of family-friendly activities and places to visit around Boulder?

The thread is a bit dated, but here is some good info on Boulder for your visit.

This is the first I've seen/heard of anyone having trouble accessing the ACCN. It's part of the ESPN package and I've had it with three different providers over the last 18 months. even living in CO, I haven't missed a VT football or men's basketball game that I would've been able to watch if I still lived out East.

Really? I have read that the ACC network has the same problems the p12 network does. Them getting on cable would be huge.

really. it hasn't been an issue for me at all nor has it been a topic on the VT boards I visit (vs the Pac network issues I experience now and the amount of chatter on Allbuffs over that network).

I haven’t missed a CU game since 2007 (including deployments). I’m not gonna say it was easy.

That's awesome. Similar for me. It was understood that I didn't fly on Sundays (I ran the tower) on the boat, because I would pull an all-nighter to watch football.

Once, there was a replay of a CU (Texas) game that was being shown on AFN on a Tuesday. I forbade any member of my detachment from knowing the score and I taped up a piece of cardboard at the bottom of the screen when I watched live football on Sunday morning so I didn't get an accidental update on the bottom scroll.

We got our asses kicked, and every member of the det knew it in advance (despite my directive otherwise) and were on eggshells for a while.

I watch most all my sports on "DVR time" and put some effort into not having them spoiled, but your practice of the taped cardboard over the scroll area takes it to another level. respect.

I had to watch our best season in years (2016) from the other side of the planet. Didn’t miss a game. Worst was the Oregon game. The best WiFi was at the Green Bean, but it could be spotty, and trying to stream my Dish to my laptop from there was not always great. But it worked well most of the game. Until the last Oregon drive. They completed a pass inside our 10, with enough time to score, and the WiFi craps out. I’m a combination of livid at the WiFi loss and even more livid that we are going to lose a game that we should have won. I’m using my phone to gamecast espn as a backup, so I switch over to that. And by the time I can finally get the page to load it shows the final score. Glad I didn’t give up and call it a night (definitely considered doing that). It took me over an hour to see how the game ended.

I pulled the same kind of ****. I wouldn’t fly until Sunday nights (‘08)- at least a 2000 brief so I could get 8ish hours of sleep.
As Air Boss in 2016, shockingly all games were shown on AFN and I would set an alarm for 0100, wake up, watch game, sleep until 1200 (roughly). Early games I had playing in the tower. Crazy how many people I turned into CU fans on that deployment.
But all the in betweens took a lot of “sign up for rando provider free intro offer then cancel in a week”/“find rando mirror streaming service”.
CU and the Pac-12 made it hard to watch.

Yeah, that Oregon game was rough. AFN froze with about 1 min left. I was pacing in my room, screaming at the TV. Feed comes back and game’s over…but the score isn’t being displayed but everyone is going nuts. Took forever to confirm that we won. Sooooooo pissed.
 
This is far more about counteracting ESPN and delaying the playoff than the scheduling and "like schools" aspect. We already get some of these games - UW-Michigan, Oregon-tOSU, Rutgers-Syracuse, Minnesota-CU, Northwestern-Duke, MSU-Miami are all scheduled for this year.

Not having the CFB all on ESPN is definitely a good thing because otherwise Fox might back their commitment to college football which in turn lowers the overall profile of the sport.

Given the decline of California when it comes to recruiting, I think there will be less opposition to dropping to eight conference games in the PAC. Too bad that means less games against the B1G East for Nebraska. It also looks like Norte Dame will be viewed more of an ACC member for football yet retain its independence.

I'm curious to see what this does for basketball as well.
