Huskers stepping up their schedule...

Why do you care who NEBRASKA plays? I always here people bitching about their weak schedule and no one understands it's about $$$$$$$$ - the lower tier team you play the less you pay them. fresno st is only getting 700,000 but the miami game will have TV revenue.

If it's all about $$$$$$$$ - then why in the hell did we stick our tails between our legs and run away from LSU for jerk-off Fresno. That would have been a huge payday considering Tiger stadium seats 93,000 and is always sold out. The SEC has 2 exclusive contracts with ESPN and NBC so it would have been a nationally televised game. Not to worry, we get a road trip to beautiful and
exotic Fresno. Maybe they can sell out historic Bulldog stadium which holds 41,000. If we are lucky the game might be on FSN regional.:wow:

Wow, making an effort to play someone...they have a lot of catching up to do to make up for this year's embarrassing non conference schedule

How do you figure? W. Mich is going to be contending for the MAC title this season and it's not exactly our fault that Va Tech is playing like s***. I would contend that our nonconference schedule could beat CSU or E Washington. We're not suicidal with our scheduling like CU has been, but we are making an effort to play some home and home with teams like UM, UCLA, Tenn, Fresno, etc. in the future. Not our fault that no one wants to play us at home. Been that way for years now.

They can play whomever they want, I don't really care. I was just sharing the information because I thought it was interesting and noteworthy.

It's definately a step in the right direction and something that the new regime wants to do. They made a point to say something about the weak scheduling and Bo said he doesn't want to play powderpuffs he wants the big teams to come in a play us to see where we stand.

First off, E Wash and CSU are our two weakest non-conf games. If we matched up your top non-conf team versus ours on down--our schedule would be 4-0, maybe 3-1.

Eastern Washington probably beats the two teams Nebraska has played so far.

It's about time some of the other schools in the B12 North start playing tougher NC schedules that arn't entirely made up of cupcake teams. Although, KU & KSU never met a cupcake they didn't like. And I don't expect them to change that anytime soon.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

You beg to differ? We aren't KSU. We don't duck anyone. But as has been pointed out many times already, it's all about $$$$. We have a large stadium that sells out no matter who we're playing, generating a lot of revenue for the University. If there's the choice between a home game against a nobody or an away game at a small stadium where the payout is minimal, which do you think the AD is gonna choose?

I only post this because I live in Nebraska BUT I found it interesting they have set up non-conference games against Hurricanes and Fresno State in the SAME year...

:wow:

Whoa. Don't give them any credit. They (as well as the other cream puff schedulers) are being required by the Big XII to upgrade the quality of the schedule. Seems the TV guys were complaining about what they were getting for their bucks.

Trust me the fuskers would have gone back to scheduling nothing but the "the Sister's of the Poor" for their non-conference games if they weren't being pressured.

I'm with you, Bali - if there is praise for NU for these games, where was the outrage this spring when the NU 2009 and 2010 games were announced? The '09 schedule includes Florida Atlantic, Arkansas State and La-Lafayette. That's a tough row to hoe compared to 2010, when NU plays Western Kentucky (brand new 1-A team), Idaho (which should never have been 1-A), and - get this - South Dakota State. This while the Buffs are playing CSU (in Ft. Collins), at Cal, Georgia, and Hawaii.

Want to keep comparing schedules, NU fans?

I think the Big-12 should step-in and coerce all teams to play at least one marquee nationally televised in the OCC.

For the fusker fans that say nobody wants to play you at home, what you should say is we don't want to schedule a home/home series with anyone good. You could find many good teams to come to NE but you need to go play on the road as well. Only the directional schools come play for a simple payday.

As I understand it, that decision WAS all about money.

We went from a home and away schedule for games that would have been likely televised...

to a...

Home/away/home games that will be likely televised.

I think everbody was excited about LSU, athletic staff included, BUT, this way we get an extra home game to support the fans at Folsom AND the revenue payoff for those home games as well.

It's a smart move, but we're all sad to lose LSU.

Wow, living in the past much? Sorry friend but nebraska isn't scaring anyone anymore. It might get back to the top and if so I'll tip my hat to them but not today, or tomorrow. Oh and unless you're on the team or associated directly with the program saying "us" is pretty ridiculous. Isn't there a huskerpedia for you folks?

Disagree. I think "we" and "us" are fair game when discussing our teams.

Fair enough. We'll agree to disagree about that then. I'm not perfect about it, sometimes it slips through but I try to remember that while they're my team outside of supporting them and donating I personally do not have an effect or a stake in the winning or losing. I've grown to really despise the tendency of many husker fans to interpret the success of an amateur sports team (at an academic institution many of them did not attend) as some kind of personal virtue. As though they were personally better people because the huskers were so great. But hey that's just my opinion. Do with it what you will.

K-State went down to Auburn last year, and played USC a couple years ago as well. I'll give them a reluctant pass on their scheduling, even though on balance it's pretty weak. They have thrown in some decent games in recent years.

Kansas, OTOH, fuggedaboudit.

It gets pretty ridiculous when a team has 4 home games for an ooc schedule, and I don't see any reason to give Nebraska too much credit for scheduling a couple of series in the middle of the next decade with actual teams instead of scheduling all home games against the weakest teams they could find.
