Colorado v USC - September 30, 2023 - 10am MT, FOX

Might have been late. He had a big hit on a guy and then got wrecked on a sideline stiff arm/ throw down by the receiver on the next play.
I was wondering if there were any medical updates on his condition. I haven't seen any. He said he was going to the ER.

Echoing what someone else said, this is the game I want more than the sum of the rest of our games this season. I remember back in 02 being at Folsom when they beat us 40-3. I’ve seen all the others since then. I just want them to beat these dudes once.

And honestly, I think there’s about a 25% chance that can happen. If Lewis has been saving any new looks for the right moment to use them, this is the week those will be used. Our linemen can’t get any bigger or faster, but USC is coming up to altitude to play a 9am kickoff (their time) after playing until midnight in a slugfest with a crummy ASU team last week. And the shine is off CU - USC’s already seen us get slaughtered, and that’s got to feed their confidence (players and coaches) to be able to win this one comfortably, maybe without showing too much schematically. Circumstantially, the only way I could feel better about the game would be if they were playing Notre Dame next week instead of the week after.

I think Colorado covers for sure (especially where it started at +24.5). If they can win the turnover battle I think this is a single digit margin. If we get a fluke pick six or a return touchdown I really do think we can pull a Buster Douglas on this.

Rep for the Buster Douglas reference.

I don't see a way to win as we have yet to put together a complete game. If that happens, and USC's suspect D, we have a puncher's chance. USC 45 CU 31

Just gotta follow the Tulane model from last year's Cotton Bowl: keep it close and hang around until USC's D needs a stop at the end. They won't get it.

My guess is, neither blocking scheme works. But based on their talent level and endurance level, zone blocking at least give us some chance.

I think the fundamental issue of this football team right now is, what Lewis is trying to do, is a mismatch from the talent we have.

Little emphasize on the run <-> Good to great RB talent
RPO <-> pro style pocket QB with no running desire
Fast tempo <-> incompetent OL with only 1 summer training together and a QB who tends to hold ball too long and take the sack

We would be sitting at 2-2 right now if TCU has any tape on us. I know people hate me saying this but hey, truth hurts.

Right now we are running too many plays that require our OL to win one-on-one battles. We have very rudimentary running play design and we never really commit to it. Lewis needs to figure out something which might be different from his life long offensive principle. Because if he doesn't, we may not get to six wins this season. He has to adapt to our players' strengths. We have one of the best QBs in college football and many good skill players. There are plays designed to compensate for the OL talent deficiency. Do something that get the ball out of the QB's hand quickly. Try some quick slants, rollouts or bootlegs, whatever he can find.
3-1 is 3-1. That TCU game was the best thing for our program since 62-36. We will unquestionably be better next year as a result. We are an incomplete team and aren’t winning a national championship this year. Who cares how we win? The mantra is to get to 6+ wins any way possible and keep the momentum going. Looking good on that front.

I'm as optimistic about our program as anyone, but I'm also realistic about our strengths. I believe that if we don't change something on offense, we won't make a bowl game this year. And I really really really want to make a bowl game this year so we can accelerate our talent pickup in the portal and have a top-10 roster next year. I view next year as our golden window to compete for a playoff spot. After Shedeur is gone, you never know when you'll get the next great college QB.

My concern about the offense doesn't come from the Oregon game. I knew we had a big problem before that. If Nebraska had a QB at the same level as BFN from CSU, we probably would have only scored 14 points or so.

Here is the reality. Everyone knows the blueprint to beat us, and I don't see any adjustment for it. I'm legitimately concerned about the games against ASU and AU. If we want to make a bowl game, we have to win those two. I don't think we have a chance against WSU or Utah on the road. Yes it's college football and anything can happen, but the chances are too low.

All I want to see this Saturday is, do we start making adjustment that gives us great chance to win 3 more games this year?

If the OC and DC do not make any changes then it really falls 100% on Prime to fix it. I'd guess they are working on it. I hope so at least.

I LOVE this post. After the first eight words you vomited up a bunch of emotions to disprove your first eight words. Calm down man, it's going to be OK. CU is tracking to a bowl game this season, ASU and UA are completely winnable games, and CSU's QB doesn't play for kNU. One bad game against the most complete team on the schedule is not the leading indicator that the world is ending.

Saw in Well Off that the team got a scouting report done on them by the coaches. I haven't personally heard of a team doing that, but found it interesting that the coaching staff told the team how it is.

Stanford is also completely winnable.

I am not trying to say that we don't deserver 3-1. I know BFN doesn't play for those cornsuckers. My point is we have real problem in our offense, it was obvious in the second game, yet we have not seen any adjustment in the 3rd and 4th game. If this trend continues, I don't know how anyone can be confident about the UA and ASU game, because both are better than the CSU.

If people think our offense sucks just because we played against the most complete team on the schedule, I think you are in for a rude awakening.
