release: 04/06/2009
boulder – university of colorado coach dan hawkins announced monday that freshman wide receiver chance blackmon has left the team.
Blackmon, who did not play as a true freshman in 2008 and was listed as a redshirt freshman on the spring roster, earned all-region honors from several publications following his prep career at tatum high school in tatum, texas.

“we wish chance the best in his future endeavors,” hawkins said. “he has decided to leave the university of colorado to pursue other opportunities closer to his family.”

the rest of the buffs, meanwhile, took part in the fourth practice of spring ball on the practice fields monday.

Interesting....I did get tired of him talking shi* outside of my window late at night...to one of the players no less. Not a big loss IMO. GL Chance

No disrespect intended, but I didn't see this kid playing much. I know he was young, but something was off. Maybe he was really homesick. Good luck to him where ever he ends up.

I doubt it had any affect on his transfer. But I think "you weak as F***" are his favorite words in the english language:lol: I hate to bad mouth the guy but his shi* talking knew no bounds. Frankly I got tired of it...but still wish him the best

WOw, so, our WR situation just got better?!
Well no. Our depth took a shot. But I don't think he would've saw any PT this season. Maybe he would've been one of those players who blow up in their JR and SR years. I guess we'll never know.

Players ahead of Blackmon imo
Simas
Simmons
Smith
McKnight

Add Ussery and Darden to the list if they don't RS.

Maybe we he saw that TU 2008 Big XII Champs sign and wanted to walk-on closer to home?

Looks like another schollie just opened up.

There's really no positive spin that can be put on this, IMO. We need talent and depth at WR. We just lost a little of both. Regardless of whether he would have seen much PT this year, he would have provided some depth at a position where it is sorely needed.

If he doesnt play at all, how is that a loss?

At least the press shows the separation is on good terms. Where ever you end up, good luck, Chance.

It's a loss during practice. It's a loss of somebody pushing somebody else. It's a loss in the same way that losing all those O-Linemen last year was a loss. He might have been able to contribute on special teams. He might have done all kinds of stuff, but we'll never know. We lost Celestine last year, Blackmon this year. That's two guys who could have contributed.

I see your point Sacky. And you're right. There isn't any positives when anyone transfers. But I'm just trying to see the overall impact from it.

Because you never know, right know it looks like we have our starting WRs set but injuries and $hi+ happens, and we could've used the depth. We can't rely on T Frosh and walk ons year in and year out.

If we had to plug him in to carry the load this year...oy.

That may be perfectly true. But say, for instance, that Shawn Daniels left the team. Would that be a good thing? Of course not. It limits your options. He wouldn't be a starter, but he gives you options. Now we don't have those options.

Bad deal. While it's none of my business, I wish I knew what would make a kid decide to leave the program at this point.

I think I'd agree with you more if Chance had some solid PT under his belt. But with none, I find this to be just another transfer. When Celestine transferred it was different, because he was playing. Chance wasn't. And unless the same catastrophic injury bug that hit the OL hit the WR's, I doubt Chance would've been playing this season.

I hear he was homesick.

It's not a loss, we have have plenty of 5-9,5-11 white guys who can start :smile2:

Espinosa has impressed the coaches actually and if simmons gets in, which I think he will, You have smith, simas, mcknight, simmons and maybe an espinosa? I would think darden and ussery are going to redshirt but maybe not so much now.

Can't afford any injuries that's for sure.

I don't think his skin color makes him a better WR. :smile2:

Don't forget about this other receiver CU is supposed to bring in for this years recruiting class.

The double secret wr? Is that the wr who is 6-3 in one article and 5-11 in another? He'll fit right in here because are guys lose height every other month :smile2:

We have have a great group of te's too so that will help out.

Solder to wr.
