21 Scotty McKnight, 5‐11, 185, Jr.**
15 Jason Espinoza, 5‐8, 175, Soph.*
12 Ryan Maxwell, 5‐8, 180, Soph.
1 Andre Simmons, 6‐3, 210, Jr.
80 Will Jefferson, 5‐11, 190, Fr.
16 Anthony Wright, 6‐0, 190, Soph.*
25 Kevin Moyd, 5‐7, 195, Sr.‐5*** (also TB)
(6 Markques Simas, 62,
215, Soph.SUSP.)

Starters at the top. :bang:

Second thought, I take that back. At least Simmons is on this Depth chart, I would probably commit suicide if we did not have a SINGLE WR over 6'0", and the only WR that was 6' was a last week converted DB (who is also still listed on the defensive depth chart as a 3d CB)

I have to agree Snow, its pretty depressing... I was under the impression that the freshman coming in were good players.. They look to be redshirting now..

I hope we'll see a lot of Ussery and Dardon. I don't think we can afford to RS them.

I think we can afford to redshirt one of them unless we're hit by major injuries. We already know Jefferson will play a lot this year, just do not see how much good from playing three true freshmen. Separate the guys a bit.

that depth chart suggests both are RSing. they aren't playing.

Both the FR WRs had truncated senior HS seasons, won't hurt to give them some time to re-gain their feel for the game and learn the positon correctly.

Besides I remember the Dolphins with their Smurf WRs, height doesn't matter if you get separation.

I'm more concerned that they catch the ball. I recall the ASU game when our "taller" WRs (J-Fly and P. Williams) dropped a couple of sure TDs when they were wide open!

I don't see how Hawkins can afford to RS anyone at this point. He needs to use everyone and anyone available.

he will if the guys aren't getting it done... seing Simmons up that high gives me hope he won't be on the sidelines much.

If a guy is not ready, he is not ready. Darden has some work to do IMO. I know Hawk is under the gun, but he also has to be smart about it too. If Darden is the 6th or 7th WR on the team, you're playing him sparingly if he does play at all. Is that worth a redshirt year or not?

While height may be a huge issue, the top 2 recievers (McKnight and Espy) both have the most sure hands on the team. Height is not a measure of a good WR, its how well he can catch the ball. How tall is only a secondary characteristic

Why aren't the freshmen (except Jefferson) on the depth chart? I don't see TD or Darden on there. Are they just too far down, or are guys they want to redshirt not on there?

I don't see Kasa listed anywhere, either, but West and Bonsu are.

Nothing nefarious going on, I'm just curious.

West and Bonsu are sure bets to play a lot this season. Kasa might not play at all with the injury.

I imagine you will see either Ussery or Darden before the end of the season.

Huh. I guess I just assumed that everyone was listed on the depth chart. I guess not.

Espy has some of the best hands on the team? Based on what? Practice?

That depth chart looks better then it did a couple weeks ago. If we were running the spread, I'd be more worried then I am right now.

Get passed Toledo and we'll have Simas, Mcknight, Espinoza, Maxwell, Simmons, Jefferson, Wright, Moyd and guys like Lockridge, Scott, Stewart. I was worried about the speed, but that was solved with the position change of Wright and the addition of Simmons.

I expect this group to get better as the season goes on.

Wright and jefferson have been a nice suprise. I think mcknight, jefferson, wright and simmons will all get some action and maybe espinosa. I would love for ussery or darden to see some action but if they aren't ready what good will it do to throw them out there.

I think we have enough to make plays downfield for our first couple games and then once simas returns and these guys have a couple games under their belt, we'll be fine.

Who the **** are you and what the **** have you done with syko?

The new Syko likes "nice surprises" and thinks the WR situation is just super.

He gets five :smile::smile::smile::smile: smiley faces from me.

Okay, gotta go get a Zima from the fridge. You want one Syko?

In Week 3, this depth chart will read:

Simas (big WR)
Scotty
Andre Simmons (big WR)

We just need to make it thru the first 2 games with the munchkin patrol.

I'd rather drink moose ****

I'm confident that as the weeks go by we'll see Simmons and Jefferson (who combined have about a month of practice with this team) rise on that chart and take the place of Espy and Maxwell. Once Simas gets in the swing of things that'll take the load off McKnight's shoulders and I'll be more comfortable with the WR depth. Would love it if our running game paced the offense well enough that this receiver group could do just enough on their end to save TD and Darden from burning a year.

I'm not sure I know who that was. I never really hung around NetBuffs.

I was a defender of sunshine to the hilt. Any negative posts about any aspect of CU would set me off ( not like that's hard).

Something changed and I've been a negative **** since then but there are things i'm liking about the program again, just temper my joy for after the good results :smile2:

I've always been a big Hawk supporter, as you all know. But recently I'm getting tired of the setbacks. I just want to see some results.

I like the guy but it's time to win and the culture and the "inside" stuff is great but we need to see results as you say.
