Putting CH back in to play flutterball was inexplicable. Even the commetators recognized the DB's were squatting on the routes. Why? Because EVERYBODY knows CH won't burn you deep. This staff does not have it. The fact that CH can pick up yards against a prevent only suckers those who don't know anything about FB. I could get yards against the prevent.

This staff is going to play CH whenever possible, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see CH start v. Mizzou. Why acknowledge TH is the better QB but jerk him during crunch time? TH isn't the greatest, but he can make things happen. CH can't. So why in the name of pete do you play him? Because he's the HC's son, that's it.

The D played well. They basically held KSU to 6 points. TH's and Espy's fumbles were killers. Polk looked great. Herrod did too.

I think Woelk hit the nail on the head.

CH needed to do something, and he just confirmed what he can't do...and added to his INT stats.

I can't imagine a scenario where this staff should be kept next year.

I get it, we need to go with one QB and move on from Cody. Agreed. But, let me just say that we couldnt even get a first down in the 2nd half and Cody drove us down to the Red Zone and if Simas catches a ball, we score a TD with a little time left. Im just saying...Cody DID do something.

When CH "moved the offense", KSU was in a prevent, didn't you notice EVERY pass was of the 3-5 yard underneath variety? Didn't you notice the prior possession KSU wasn't in the prevent and CH threw THREE incompletions in a row? KSU's DB's were defending CH the same way everybody else does now, just sit on the routes that are 10 yards and under and wait to jump the route. If the KSU DB's could catch, CH would have had three INT's instead of two. Seriously, go back and watch. It was pathetic. Snyder knew what was coming when CH came in and the DB's were salivating....

KSU was perfectly happy to sit on their 14 point lead and let CH burn clock moving down the field at 3-5 yards a play. They knew they could burn the clock with their run game...

I understand how defenses work, im talking results. Period. Was at least nice to see the ball get thrown.

OK, look I'm not trying to get into with you, just one final comment. I know you know about defenses. CH's moment of glory was that 94 yard drive. He came in to run the two minute drill. That two minute drill took 3:28 off the clock. The defense was dictating to the O what was going to happen. KSU traded yardage for time masterfully and Snyder ran that gig to perfection. Results? Yeah they got yardage out of their two minute drill and damn near used four minutes to do it. KSU was giving CH those cheap underneath passes. They would have given that to TH, Lobato, me or you. The offensive movement had nothing to do with who was QB and everything to do with how KSU was defending.

Snyder knew exactly what to do when CH came in...and so will everybody else. Maybe TH isn't a monumental upgrade, IMO the jury is still out, but at least he has the tools, so there is a chance.

Listen, Im all for Tyler. He should be the starter now, maybe in the future (certainly over Cody...hope one of the other qbs steps up in the spring), and for as long as he can produce results. I understand Cody took 3:28 off the clock and was taking underneath routes in a soft defense. Thats all fine. I'll take the 10 yard passes (and he threw long routes too...just cant catch it), at least he threw the damn ball. Yesterday, TH was out of his element. I feel like his version of the 2 minute drill wouldve involved scrambling for 30 seconds, gaining one of the best 2 yards ive ever seen and huddling up and doing the same thing for 2nd down.

Totally agree with your analysis, lefty.

iirc, Tyler's fumble only cost us a field goal.

The touchdowns were after the Espy fumble and the Espy fair catch at the 3 that reversed field position.

You may very well be right about TH in the two minute drill. I just wonder how he'll ever learn it if he gets jerked for a known quantity who can't get it done? Maybe it is all academic, but I can't see any reason to put CH in other than the obvious. TH is going to have to run it sooner or later...why not do it last Saturday when the season is pretty much a goner anyway?

Tyler needs to learn. And you know damn well that as soft as KSU was playing, there were still at least 2 passes of Cody's they should have picked and returned for a touchdown on that drive. Mizzou has better athletes on their defense and will make those plays.

I stand corrected.

TH needs to learn, I'll give you that. I think theyre trying to win games now though, and do whats best for winning games now for the seniors, etc (even if we disagree, im sure thats the point). "Seasons over" = we could still win the North (especially true saturday).

Im not making a case for Cody, he's not a d1 quarterback, agreed. But, Tyler has GOT to throw the ball. And I dont blame the coaching staff for throwing Cody in there yesterday...Tyler couldnt move the ball AT ALL after the 1st drive.

IMO, that is because the coaches are trying to get Tyler to never run, to stay and throw even if it isn't there. Which is inexplicable, as running is exactly the element the Tyler brings to the table that Cody cannot compete with, and one of the main reasons we beat KU. Don't change the system to fit the talent, try to change the talent to fit the system. Making Tyler a pocket passer when your pocket passer already playing was getting killed is stupid. If they would have given Tyler the green light to run if the pocket is breaking down instead of trying to force him to stay we would of had many more first downs a probably won that game.

I hate thinking that they are setting up Tyler to fail so they have the excuse to put Cody in, but that is what it looks like to me.

Funny, I thought it was the OL's job to make sure the QB had TIME to throw ball and the WRs to run good routes and catch the ball. Guess I'm confused and should know that it's all on the QB. Thanks for clearing that up!

I think what they've told Tyler is to think pass first...he's a quarterback. I dont agree with much that this staff does, but, I actually totally agree with this. A)--he's a quarterback. Remember last year? Wayyyyy too predictable everytime he came in the game/started....everyone knew he was going to run and it became completely ineffective. He needs to pass first, if nothing there, scramble.
B) he's going to get hurt.

Had plenty of time to throw quite often. Still didnt.

I think we have sufficiently beat the QB situation to death. I think we generally agree, improved QB paly is needed and TH needs to be the guy doing the improving.

Just curious, how do yo see the Buffs winning the North? I know it is mathematically possible ,but that would mean they would need to beat three, probably four Big 12 teams left on the sked. Who do you think those wins will come from?

How? Pure incompetence from our peers in the North. Honestly though, no, I say theres almost no way that we win the North. However, from the perspective of a coaching staff, you have to think that way until you are eliminated. Seniors have to believe as long as theres still a chance to win the North, go to a bowl ("their goals are still there in front of them") that the staff will do what they think is best to win now and not just get experience for next year.

I find it interesting that before when we were losing, for a number of people it wasn't the QB that was the problem (way down the list at the least). Now, all we're talking about is the quarterback. I guess Tyler at least proved during the Kansas game that a QB making plays does in fact change the entire complexion of a game. Weird how that somehow justifies Cody getting snaps for Dan and some fans.

 I guess the good news is everybody else in the North looks as bad as we do. I hear you on the play to win until the fat lady sings concept. I guess....we'll see.:smile2:

I think, minus the Kansas game, the quarterback has been a big part of the problem every week. That would point the finger at cody for almost all of the season. Im not biased or sticking up for CH. I really believe neither guy is the option. At all. I hope Lebato or Evans gets ready, fast.

So he should throw it just to throw it? None of the WRs were open, since they don't seem to think it's their ****ing job to get open when the QB is running for his life.

Our WRs were jogging after the initial play broke down. Definitely not the whole problem, but it's inexcusable.

serious question---were you there?? If not, I have no idea how you know that. With that FCS broadcast, you're a better man than I if you could tell if the WRs were open or not. They didnt show down the field.

So are we looking at a new punt return guy? Sure-handedness and decision-making seem to be in question now, along with the inability to get any yards.

No, I wasn't. But I will trust what I've heard from others who were there as well as what the broadcasters were saying about no one being open.

Exactly. As I said in another thread, how can Tyler ever be the guy if they won't let him get the experience in these situations? And when the season (and the game) is already toast, what better time to put him in there?

Continuing to play Cody and expecting different resuilts than what we have seen the last 2.5 years is sheer lunacy.

That's the thing. I don't think Cody gives them the best chance to win games. I think Hansen does. Cody comes in, dinks and dunks, gets some yards, and throws INTs as he locks on to Scotty every play.

I was at the game and the recievers are clueless on what to do after the play breaks down. Jogging would be an improvement on what I saw. More just standing and watching Tyler running around. Exception was Scotty but he has no speed to get seperation.
