Anyone catch the NU highlights and see the Frosh QB?

Granted it was against a cream puff, but he looked pretty good running for 3 TD's. Pretty crazy that Bo ended up going with the Freshman. Anyone see it?

Just on sports center. Martinez is about to be the subject of much film study.

Didn't see the game but saw the box score. Noticed that a WKU back ran for 155 yards. They had 300 total yards. That seems like a **** load for a back on the #120 team. Anything significant there? Is Lee finished? Is Green finished? Where was Helu? Was Suh's absence noticed?

Yea, Bo was pretty pissed about the run D after the game. Played well the first half but slacked a little in the 2nd. An interesting note was that they played the 4-2-5 like CU did awhile back, not sure if that was planned or they went to it after injuries hit the LB corps.

Green got a couple series during meaningful game time, Lee got garbage time so it looks like he is pretty much done. It will be interesting to see how Martinez plays out, looked pretty good last night, cant wait to see him against some real competition.

Come on Leash, we have one more year to enjoy.

Looking at the stats I think KSU vs NU will be a good game to watch. KSU has a nasty, nasty RB.

he may be good but temper your excitement-
Western Kentucky is one of the worst D1 football teams out there along w/San Jose St, Louisiana-Lafayette, New Mexico....

Oh I totally agree. WKU wasnt much of a test, but its good to see some signs of life on offense considering how it looked last year.

I'm not saying he's good until we start Big XII play or until we play Washington. WKU is not a world beater type of team and considering they had 299 yards of total offense on us I'm concerned a little about the defense. I'm sure part of that is from our LB's being hurt and granted we get one of those back in a few weeks, but they shouldn't have even gotten through the defensive line.

I also agree with Mick, doesn't matter if someone is a Senior or not. If the kid has the tools, put him in the game.

Yup. offense looks better. However, the Defense - Suh sure looked different. And not in a good way.

NU will lose on the road at KSU, OSU or ATM.

i'd also take Texas straight up in Lincoln, too.

Texas is used to winning games. NU is used to being decent but not great. that Memorial Stadium magic is not so hot anymore. frickin ISU won there last year.

hook em.

The 4-2-5 Defense played was planned. Bo calls it the "Peso". The Defense seemed weaker then anticipated in areas because for one, the Huskers lost 2 starting linebackers due to late camp injuries. Compton was replaced by a Jr. College transfer 2 days before game time. He will be a great one, but it's still hard to move into the roll of making the calls on Defense 2 days before the real deal. There is no doubt the Defense will come along.

As far as how the QB situation plays out is anyones guess. T-Mart showed lots of spunk. He could be the spark his team needs and could be the real deal. Cody Green played better then many expected and represented himself well, and Zac Lee did the same. The coaches have a plan for the QB's and it will unfold well before the Big 12 season gets to far along.

Nebraska has 3 running backs ready to carry the load. They all can be interchanged with a beat not being missed. They kept Helu out much of the game to give others the game experience needed down the road.

No Koolaid drinking going on in Huskerland that's for sure. Everyone I have talked to seems to think Nebraska would rank about 4th in this weeks B12 North power rankings after the first week of the season, right behind MU, KSU and CU. The Huskers have lots of work to do before they can move up higher after the next round of games are played.

really?

Nobody in the Big 12 was terribly impressive yesterday, with the possible exception of OSU. Baylor, A&M, and NU all had nice looking wins but their competition was pretty bad, and OSU's competition wasn't a whole lot better.

I saw the score ticker a few times while watching other games. Scored seemed a lot closer than it should have for who they were playing. Once Nebraska moves to the Big 10 are they going to start scheduling real teams? I was just looking at their schedule.

Sat, Sep 11 Idaho

Sat, Sep 18 at Washington (This is a little better but the Huskies haven't been good for awhile)

Sat, Sep 25 South Dakota State :wow:

Do you husker fans really enjoy starting out the season like that? I can wrap my head around one very easy game in OOC but three?

KSU looked really excellent every time I had the game on, but the Bruins were in the game right up to the end, so maybe they weren't good overall? Daniel Thomas is a beast though.

That type of schedule has to hurt the team. They will end up thinking they are better than they are and they won't be ready for the big boys.

Giving up 300 yards isn't necessarily an indication of a poor or even mediocre defense. CU gave up something like 250 to CSU in a game that wasn't even close. It's not always the amount of yardage given up, but when those yards are given up that is important.

The company line is to blame Pederson, Dr. Tom would never schedule cupcakes

And I know schedules are made years in advance.

I still think the Huskies knoff off the huskers. Locker will be the #1 pick in the draft next year.

This year's schedule is horrible but next season has Washington, Fresno St., and Wyoming along with road trips to Wisconsin, Penn St., and Michigan with home games against tOSU and Iowa. Yeah, it's gonna be slightly harder.

I caught bits and pieces of this one. Once again, slick rick has skill players and a questionable defense.

49-10 isn't a close score? I agree it should've been more. No, I don't like the scheduling and think it sucks. I want us to schedule harder teams, but we can't do that now............have to wait a few years to let the future schedules play out.
