Originally committed to Iowa. Did not have a qualifying test score and he also broke his fibula in November. Both of these things factored into him being majorly under-rated by the services versus the offer list he had. Just got himself qualified at the end of March.

There was a nice write-up on him on the Rivals network following his Iowa commitment:

AZ's site has a title that says "Buffs add '11 WR." Commit?

Looks on the video like he runs some routes and makes some adjustments, not just a straight line guy using speed to get open. could be a good late get.

So ESPN says he's got good hands, while scout says his hands are an area for improvement. Clear as mud. :wow:

Could be the GET of the class. Position of need and a solid offer list. Iowa doesn't make too many personnel reaches and sounds like Kennedy is tight with an Iowa coach. This isn't a complete under the radar guy. Legit offers and played big boy prep football. Can compete for PT ASAP.

I like the pick-up as well. We need all the help we can get at WR and he has the potential to compete for significant playing time right away. Kennedy's connections to the DeSoto program were likely a big help in this one as well.

Right now doesn't have elite speed. But i believe coach Blacken can work on that. A redshirt year should help him.

He does not have elite speed, but if the leg is fully healed, he will get a shot to play early on. We cannot afford to redshirt everyone, especially at WR.

I agree he is lacking elite speed, but he does show excellent footwork and the ability to make defenders miss. Could be an excellent possession receiver and provide some decent YAC. Very good pick-up for us.

Absolutely...don't necessarily need to be a burner to contribute out of the slot (McKnight). Route-running and hands can, for the most part, make up for that lack of elite speed.

Size, arm length, and shuttle time are good. Care less about 40 time.

Supposedly, Vincent ran a 4.41 the last time he did a 40. Whatever. I almost never believe 40 times anyway. He looks fast enough to gain separation on film (against very good competition) and he had a really good time in the pro shuttle (electronic). He's not someone that defenses will be able to press without help over the top, imo, and I think that's what matters when we're talking about WR speed. The guys who have the wheels to just line up and outrace people down the field are rare and I think that's a luxury in a WR recruit, not a necessity.

You need good game speed to considered an elite WR at the College level. Vincent needs a lot of coaching, a redshirt year could be needed.

what i was going to say. BK pulls a WR out of Texas. sounds almost exactly like why you hire the guy from UT....nice going Coach.

I just checked the Rivals database for DeSoto high school. Not only did 15 of their kids go D1 the past 2 years, they have 9 kids in the Rivals database for 2012. 2 are committed already (Texas and Texas A&M).

Everything coming out on Vincent is that he's a burner and a homerun threat. It seems that the premium sites had old info that's vastly different from what happened during his senior season and what his coach's evaluation of him is.

From BuffScoop's interview with his HS Coach:
From the Rivals BuffStampede interview with Coach Mathis:
Out of both interviews, it was reported that Vincent ran a 4.4 electronic forty prior to the injury.

Looks like Vincent is a big play threat.

A broken fibula does not impair speed once it's healed. It's not like an ACL tear. Assuming the break was a clean one and is fully healed, this kid could be spectacular.
