'14 CO ATH Kalen Ballage (Signed to Arizona State)

Did they bring those back? Last time I was at K's they no longer served them due to a liquor license violation. Might need to hit K's again sometime if they did.

They closed K's for numerous liquor violations and noise complaints. It opened back up as something else, but it still had grandfathered sanctions. I guess the Hill association was pissed at K's. They take turns kicking out bars on the hill, La Iguana, Gramazios... Then they just come back. I don't understand how the Goose has operated for so long.

I'm not sure if the coaching staff can but Brett Hundley jr & the Hundley family are close friends being that Brett Sr is from Colorado & grew up in Montbello so I knw the staff has had him reach out & and I the Starks stuff is just what he told me and about singing daybeing postponed I'm not sure if he knows where he was going to go if it was for today

I can haz cheezberger?!

Here in Phoenix they are talking about it and they aren't even mentioning CU. Saying it is between ASU and UCLA

If you look at the site now... there is a nice spot at the bottom of the page that is just begging to be filled. C'Mon Kalen!

Lots of love for Kalen in this thread and across all of the CU boards. Deservedly so. Special player and everything we have heard is that he's a great kid with a wonderful family. He's going to be a tremendous asset to whatever program he decides to play for and I have no doubt that he is going to be successful wherever he goes.

Since he's going to be successful anywhere he plays, I think this has to come down to how much he values certain things CU has to offer. Things like his family and friends getting to see him play more often and the whole deal of being a hometown hero who could literally become legendary in this state if he leads CU football back to glory. Having that built-in support network of folks who have your back can be a big deal in terms of being happy in college.

Regarding the rest of the class that signed today, I think it's clear to anyone who really looks at it that it is filled with guys who are winners and expect to continue winning. There's an obvious lack of character risks. This is the foundation of a winning culture. There are guys who will develop into great players over time such as OT Isaac Miller and guys who were pulled from the JUCO ranks to make an immediate impact as part of the plan to make a run to a bowl game in 2014. Then there are the transfers like 4* Deaysean Rippy ready to roll and the open rumors of bringing a couple former top Colorado preps back into the fold this summer.

Then there is the massive facility upgrade project that's going to drive so much in terms of attracting more talent in 2015 and beyond while also providing first class training opportunities (Olympic level stuff with bio analysis testing). Some of the new construction and cutting edge testing has already started and it is expected to be completed in 2016. Couple that with a Strength & Conditioning program that has proven itself at 3 colleges to have significantly reduced football injuries under the personnel running CU's program.

In short, I expect Kalen to further demonstrate that he's got a good head on his shoulders by making the best, informed decision for his future. And I know there are a lot of reasons why that decision may very well be to come to CU.

Very well said Nik.

Big difference in being THE BMOC vs a BMOC. If he wants to build himself a legacy, he would be the face of this program during his time here.

Exactly my thoughts, nice post.

No doubt Coach Mac sold him hard on all of that too. If I'm not mistaken, UCLA had been criticized recently for the state of their facilities (correct me if not). We might have an advantage as far as facilities go.

I'd guess that Coach Mac also emphasized his own record as a turnaround specialist who left Bill Parcells and the NFL to construct the Duke plan as Defensive Coordinator under Cutcliffe before going on - as a Head Coach - to bring San Jose State back from the abyss to a Top 25 program in just 3 years.

I don't doubt that MacIntyre has made his case. It's a strong one.

By all accounts, HCMM put on an impressive presentation in the last in-home. We will see if it can overcome the shiny new facilities and new uniforms in the desert or the bright lights of LA.

Given the way UCLA is basically slow-playing him based on IF Starks can even qualify I wouldn't give them the time of day, what happens if Starks clears late? Does Mora say tough luck to Kallen?

Ballage would be an instant contributor and potentially a starter at one of the weakest areas on the team.

Can't be understated how huge he would be to the program. Being a home state kid, at a "glamour" position of which we have a serious need, he would have a chance at being THE guy for the team. He'd be the face of the program.

Come on Kalen, you know you'd love seeing your jerseys being sold in the bookstore and worn by CU fans everywhere.

I will name our first born son Kalen if he commits. It's out here on the interwebz, so it's FACT

I'll tell the wife tomorrow

I wonder how my son would feel about a name change?

(Being perfectly honest - he was open to "Askia" after the shot that beat Kansas this year.)

I already promised that Dinwiddie was going to be my first, but we can go with Kalen for the second kid.

Watching him run out behind Ralphie knowing that his family will be at every home game would be something special indeed. I can seem him stiff arming a CSU DB on his way into the endzone at Mile High already!

Kalen would be a huge lift to the Buffs. Given the roster, I could see him playing from day one. I had a friend who got to see him play this past year. He said the guy is probably the most impressive HS player to come out of Colorado in years. It would be awesome to see him lead the charge of the Buffaloes.

I wonder how much an 18 year old kid thinks about their legacy. I mean, to us, it's obvious that CU would be a big move. He'd become instantly beloved and he'd have a huge impact on the next few recruiting classes. To a kid, maybe they don't grasp the big picture. I just hope Ballage doesn't look back on this moment with a few years of maturity under his belt and wish he'd picked CU instead. Let's hope 3:30 brings some happy news.
