Well, thanks for not ripping on me, but my post was simply pointing out my frustration with athletes not considering the academic side of attending a school. Sure, schools are spending millions to upgrade their athletic facilities, but at the end of the day, 9 out of 10 athletes will need to rely on their academics rather than their sport.

Doesn't matter, recruiting preferences can be incredibly arbitrary. It's all a sales job, and recent winning speaks louder than most attributes.

I'd bet he will say he is considering the academics. I'm sure the sales pitch includes all the "greatness" of an asu degree.

If he did rip on you but apologized first, would that have helped?

Insulting other schools based on Academics is so tired. Not many of these kids consider that they won't be playing in the NFL in 4 or 5 years anyway. I don't know if Tim knows what he wants to major in, but unless he wants a degree in something that CU excels in, I don't see how we have such a HUGE edge on ASU. Both are great schools, CU is just more great. ASU is a huge party school with tons of hotties, flip flop weather year round and a damn good football team. I don't blame the kid for considering them at all. Of course I hope he chooses CU and expect that he will.

I'm getting tired of reading all of the negative BS on this site. There are a lot of people that just need to sit back, enjoy the recruiting process and shut the **** up. We have a damn good school, good coaches and a program on the rise. It's going to take a while, but we'll be back.

  ASU is a dog **** academic school. CU is far ahead of ASU in academics. Calling ASU a great academic school is like calling Embree or Hawkins a great coach, it ain't true. As far as the girl comment, while true it's also the STD Capital of the West.

However, in late 2006 Trojan Brand Condoms ranked ASU No. 137 out of 150 universities surveyed about sexual health on their campus. "The Trojan Sexual Health Report Card" was the first known survey that graded the sexual health of college campuses and universities across the country and ranked Yale University No.1 for sexual health.

The schools were graded according to criteria such as amount of available resources pertaining to sexual health, depth of information provided, contraception advice and availability, HIV and STD testing, sexual assault counseling and services, campus events and other outreach programs about sexual health issues. Trojan Brand Condoms could not be reached to explain how it gathered information concerning ASU for this article.

What the hell did you google to find this information? And why?
Because it's pretty well known that ASU is a porn star capital and it's pretty well known that ASU has a high STD rate. Pretty sure I just googled "ASU high STD rate" or something like that.

I like what I see at ASU to, doesn't mean I'd go there

You know, you better quit talking academic smack when your dumb ass does not even know when to use too vs to and you are a student at The University of Colorado. Makes you look pretty ****ing stupid. To vs too is a elementary grammar rule. You can't seem to figure that out. Yet, you are at CU. Go on... talk your smack.

Let me guess....

"It's a message board"

Yes. This was done on purpose so all this dog **** can be moved out of this recruits thread. And 'Tini, from such an esteemed University should friggin know better.

[deleted pic of tini posting a picture with a blocked out swear word in a recruit thread to get around the swear filter - no biggy, it's just in the thread of the biggest in-state recruit for CU this year]

Yeah. See, someone at an institution of higher learning would and I will add... would not talk academic smack when they cant back it up and then dismiss it.

But, whatever. Give these kids the excellent example of your english skills while you talk about how bad other schools are. Tons of credibility there.

Point made. I'm done. Move this **** already.

So we can't talk academic smack about the glorified JUCO in the desert if we make common message board mistakes or we can't talk smack in general? Gotta be honest, it's hard to ignore they are the safety school for the southwest. Doesn't mean you can't get a solid education of course. CU is the safety school for many too.

No. Only 'Tini and only because he does it repeatedly. In his case, it's not a common message board mistake. He just does not know the difference. If he did... well, how hard can it possibly be to add an o? Especially when you want to talk about how great the education is at the school you attend?

Also, you do understand that this got so stupid in a recruits thread that I had to come in and make sure that it got moved by putting my own stupidity on display by arguing with 'tini.

I am here to help.

I am actually fine with your posts, as well as others in the thread. Definitely worth talking about, especially with in-state recruits.

One poster is being stupid (I bet you all can take a wild guess).

Classy as always Tini. What a great way to represent your university.

ASU or CU. Graduating doesn't guaranty anything other than expensive type on a resume. IMO a college education is overrated. I know too many broke college educated people. Hard work earns a good living. Tim can be successful no matter where he feels right. But be a Buff OK?!

Ultimately it's kids decision, it's his life and he can make the most of either place if he handles it right.

That said I do think being a local kid at the states flagship university can open a few more doors. Part of the university experience is developing a network that can help you after you are out. It seems like that network is easier to build and use when you stay in state.

It isn't just a question of where you want to go to school, it also has to do with where you want to live after college. I think Colorado is a much better and more pleasant place to build a career. Arizona is a popular place to move to, when you are getting to old to do much moving away from an air conditioner.

Mac has to sell a vision. That is tough to do to an 18 year old kid.

At any rate, does he have any other visits on his agenda?

You all need to give tini a break. He knows he's only here for entertainment purposes and he's giving it all he's got.

The speed and willingness at which academics is brought up when god forbid a Colorado HS football player has the audacity to even consider Arizona State is very amusing.

I am well aware of the reputation, but as someone who has worked in HR/recruiting from TX to CA and as someone who is aware of the several highly regarded programs at ASU I know damn well if you don't succeed with an ASU degree, it's your own damn fault. But this isn't about defending the virtues of an ASU education more so than stating how asinine it is to be so quick to put it down, especially when I've seen millionaire VPs at large companies with degrees from New Mexico State and the University of North Texas (go Mean Green!), schools who aren't even close to the caliber of ASU.

Basically, it's more about the work ethic and effort of the person with the degree than the school on the degree itself. I'd like to think people with great educations from the University of Colorado would be aware of this (which isn't exactly a secret either).

Synopsis of post: If you work really hard and are the right kind of person, you too can overcome having a degree from ASU. Is that about the long and short of it? I'm not putting down ASU, I am just perplexed by your attempt at defending your institution.

On the other hand if you want to major in business with the intention of running strip clubs the contacts to be made at ASU are unmatched in the PAC12 and very few other places for that matter.
