'19 TX WR LaVontae Shenault (SIGNED to COLORADO)

I just watched his highlights for the first time and came away quite impressed. I think he'd play this year.
He'd have to be damn good to get PT. I think he's great, but he'd have to pass up KD, his brother, Tony Brown, Arias, and some other guys. Definitely possible though.

I’d see how everyone plays on the field and put the best in the game! Winning now counts!

I could see him play as a freshman but he’s still a little on the skinny side. He needs to be closer to 205 pounds.

Why does he have to be the same size as his brother? He is already a higher rated player?

Big difference between start and play a lot.

He isn't starting in front of his brother or Arias or Brown. I could see him getting a lot of time on the field though be it just for four games or for the season.

One impact of a new staff (even with some carryovers like Chev around) is that guys will have to earn their spot and their time. Viska not getting significant playing time as a freshman showed the MM staff's bias for experience over potential, in this case and others it was ridiculous. With MT and the guys he brought in I think and hope that it will be the guys who produce play.

I love KD but could see him slipping out of much of the playing time he got last year. He is exciting but because of his size has to be completely open get the ball.

LaVontae doesn't look as strong as his brother yet (which WRs out there are?) but he is big enough to win his share of those battles already.

Because for his size that weight is fairly natural and he won’t be able to withstand football at the collegiate and NFL weight at 185 pounds. I didn’t realize saying he needs to add 15 pounds of muscle was a ridiculous statement, dudes skinny.

KD will get all the time he wants...in the slot. If he's thinking he's a boundary receiver, then he won't be a starter.

Paul Richardson is 6'0" 183 playing in the NFL... and I believe he was LaVonte's size in his Senior year as a Buff? I think you play if you are better than the other players you are competing with... Regardless of size. I think he is pretty tough, just like he is. He will naturally mature as he grows into a man and eats and trains at the college level.
He looks pretty solid to me...

Right. I must have missed when Arias and Brown left no doubt they are never getting passed up by younger players.
He has 1 career reception, and it was a TOUCHDOWN! He's un-defendable!

Seriously, Arias didn't play at WR as a frosh, but was valuable on ST's. Let's resist the urge to propel him into the starting lineup (or bench purgatory) until he's had a chance to show us something. The last circle-jerk we had for a big receiver's amazing talents prior to he actually doing anything with them, that guy now is at Liberty University.

Paul also breaks down all the time, though.

P-rich has also played 16 games only once in 5 seasons. But it’s fine, I’m not knocking Shenault, just think he could add some muscle.

I think Brown is a nice piece, not a stud, but no neither of them have done anything on the field to suggest they're irreplaceable. It's a belief in Arias' skill/size, and what people around the program have to say about him.

I imagine he is bigger than what it says in his profile, and he will be bigger by the time he steps on the field. He plays tough...

We will play 6-7 deep at WR. LaVontae will be one.

The only question is how his name will appear on the back of his Jersey. Lavo. Shenault?

It's time that we see guys doing what is best for the team. If he was promised a shot at the outside positions then he got that shot, and we saw the limitations. He may not like being a slot but if he starts putting up numbers and celebrating in the end zone a few times I think he'll be fine with it.

This, over and over, this.

I think both of them, especially Arias potentially could be special but potential means you haven't done it yet.

Winning programs don't play guys because they have been good soldiers and waited their turns, they play guys because they win the job on the field and produce. Viska has proven everything he needs to prove in order to be put in the starter spot in permanent marker. Everybody else goes on in pencil until they prove they deserve the playing time. Some guys may get more opportunity or first opportunity but ultimately it has to be earned.
