Judging by the lack of effort from this staff when it comes to in-state kids, I'd be pretty reserved in my optimism.
Corey Ayers, LB/HB (Legacy HS): will go out of state
Is that a "for sure" thing? I thought Corey came to junior day. Did he not like CU? Will he not even give us a chance? He seems like a pretty good player, and I think Hawk & Co. are interested?
By the by, I've seen you post several things like this about Corey and CU. Why the vitriol?
Disappointing that we have little shot at the Mullen RB.. Supposedly he's the best back since Lendale White from Colorado..
Well not a stalker. However, right now the only player(s) that has shown the ability is Ayers (LB/HB), May (TE/DE) and Pando (OL/DL) from Legacy to go to the next level. As far as is Hawk interested in Corey? Well yes I believe so, he has mailed Ayers and talked to him one on one at JR day. Now I do know this Ayers does like CU. He is planning to attend the summer camp to make sure they know he would like to play at CU.
But BUFFInVA just a fan. But, I do know this I think CU has only 12 slots for 2011 so they will be picky on players.
How does this jive with the previous post that says he will go out of state?
im confused on this numbers game with the available slots for next year.....
i have read that CU has undersigned the last few classes. add on the number of x-fers over the last few years to that. how do we come to the conclusion that CU is limited in the number of scholis they can offer next year? 'splain what i am missing here, please. thanks.
People tend to focus on the 25 scholarships per year max when talking about under-signing.
But there is also an 85 scholarship limit for all classes.
After signing the current class, we are at 85.
We have 12 seniors for 2010. So, right now CU is looking at 12 available slots for the 2011 class. That number will likely change with normal attrition. Also, it will likely change depending on where Hawkins grants scholarships to get to 85. If he grants to a couple senior walk ons, it opens up 2011 spots. If he uses them for underclassman transfers, walk ons or late qualifiers/signees, then they won't be open in 2011.
So, minimum of 12 open slots in 2011. Maybe we end up with closer to 20 once it all shakes out. This is why we're talking about it being a numbers game regarding whether there will or will not be room for Corey Ayers in next year's class. (This and how many LBs that CU takes and whether some 4* or 5* studs take up those slots like when we pulled Major and Katoa.)
that all makes sense, save the fact, how the heck did we get to 85 scolarship players with all of the attrition and undersignings i have been reading about? seems odd to me. im not doubting you, dont get me wrong. just a completely different story from what i was expecting given the numbers i had been reading regarding x-fers, guys moving on, non-qualers and years of under signing.....
thanks for the 'splanation though!
Maybe people have been over-stating the issues a bit? :wink2:
Adonis' offer list is not what most expected by this time. Is there questions about work ethic and conditioning?
most likely his ability to toke the rock in college.
What you did there. I see it.
