2013-14 CU MBB SOS Watch (OOC & Pac-12 Opponents)

Totally missed that they had Utah State tonight. They win this, they're going to have a very inflated RPI.

UCSB is getting destroyed without Williams, they are taking terrible 3's and can't get the ball inside. UCSB is already out of the zone with a couple of Utah St 3's - this could be over quickly,

Key to beating UCSB is going to take away the 3 ball, they shoot nearly 67% from 3 land (well, coming into today)

Agreed - Michael Bryson has made at least 1 for UCSB (it's hard to tell who's exactly scoring, this stream is garbage and there is no live box score)- they aren't great shots he's taking, but we've got to close out on him. UCSB wants to get out and run - could be a track meet. Utah St. usually wants to slow it down and play a half court game, but UCSB isn't exactly great in transition D and they can't seem to help themselves from running.

So UCSB's Michael Bryson and Kyle Boswell are not afraid to shoot it from anywhere, we'll need to keep track of them. Also, Alan Williams is a no-go tonight, he's back on the bench in street clothes. UCSB doesn't play again until Thursday against us, if he doesn't play Scott and Wes should have a field day.

Really not sure you'd want to get in a track meet with us at home but I'll take it, we played so much better against teams that tried to run (thanks, nropp) last year

I meant track meet between Utah St and UCSB. It's hard to tell what UCSB will do against us without Alan Williams. They've been in and out of the 2-3 zone (I'm sure they'll play some zone against us). They've also been unsuccessful in trying to press. Utah St. has also been in some zone and UCSB has swung it pretty well and got a few open shots, but aren't really getting it inside too much or looking to (again, probably b/c Williams isn't down low).

UCSB is struggling on the glass. A lot of that is not having Williams, but it's not the whole story.

If the Buffs frontcourt plays like they should and our guards stay on Boswell and Bryson to limit good looks from 3pt range, this is a game we will win by double digits.

Alan Williams is going to be key to the game - I guess he was sitting on the bench in the 2nd half and standing up and clapping, so it isn't like he's immobile or anything. Sounds like he's day to day. Bryson could create some match-up problems for us. Is it too early to start telling Hopkins that he can't lose sight of this kid and if he leaves him to help on anybody else Tad's going to strangle him? Should I just start tweeting #24 to Hopkins every 10 minutes?

UCSB is a tough out and we'd better be ready (look no further than UC Irvine killing Washington to see what Big West schools are capable of). With that said, I'm feeling a little better about UCSB after realizing that UNLV is a complete and utter train wreck right now (needed some home cooking to edge Nebraska-Omaha by 3 last night).

Sunday's games:

UT-Martin @ Florida State: Florida State has an early season bad loss or two every single year, but it's probably too much to ask for UT-Martin to give us a nice bump with an upset win

Stanford @ Denver: Cal had no trouble with DU in Berkeley. However, that was DU's first game (and not Cal's) which gave a big advantage. Stanford is likely going to get a bigger challenge having to go on the road. Cardinal are capable of losing to anyone under Dawkins.

Air Force vs Arkansas-Pine Bluff: Air Force is struggling right now. Big time. This is one AFA really should win. If they lose this, it's a disaster.

#23 Baylor vs Louisiana-Lafayette: Baylor looked shaky against a mediocre at best South Carolina squad in their last game. If they're focused, they should roll, but Sun-Belt teams tend to have some decent athletes.

Oregon State @ Maryland: Beavs play their annual DC Metro game for Obama. I'm sure that provides motivation, but it would be a major surprise for OSU to get a W on the road against a Maryland team that's going to challenge for a ticket to the Big Dance.

Washington vs Eastern Washington: Huskies try to recover after getting their doors blown off at home by UC-Irvine. This is probably just what the doctor ordered before they face Indiana.

Lamar tried its best, but was destroyed by Washington State.

TN Martin got rolled by Florida State.

Stanford found its offense in the 2nd half to win at DU 66-57 after trailing 25-24 at the half.

AFA is struggling early against AR Pine Bluff, down 10-5 after the first 4 minutes.

AFA has pulled even at 58 with a little under 3 minutes left.

Let's go Zoomies!

Nice escape for Air Force. They win, but they stink. Not a bad combo for us for the first true road game with all the youth of ours.

67-64

We just need to keep hoping that AFA can find its way to a Top 200 RPI by virtue of its SOS and playing smart enough hoops to steal some games along the way. They're really down this year.

Oregon State looking good tonight, we'll see if they can avoid "Robinson time"

Baylor takes care of business against Louisiana-Lafayette

If they don't ... "Robinson time" may expire before the end of the season, even though he is BO's bro-in-law.

Big win for Oregon State at Maryland, 90-83. Nelson and Collier combine for 60 points (31 and 29).

Granted, Oregon State gets a nice OOC win and then sucks in conference play every year.

Horrible day for the ACC.

OSU wins a big one 90-83. Great for the Pac 12 and our SOS.

That was huge.

I didn't see that coming at all.

Now we need Washington to get its **** together. Down 19-10 at home to Eastern Washington after 7 minutes.

B1G and Big 12 may be the best conferences this year.

Looks like Washington decided that defense was optional. Gave up 48 to EWU in the first half and trail by 9 at the break.

Washington managed not to **** up. Played some defense in the 2nd half and won by 12.
