Lightning Dancer Luke's
Top-12 (+8) CU Hoops Targets for 2024
@LukeAddington4

Elite Front-Court:
Jacob already with the "Earliest All-Time Offer" of the Tad Buff era, getting offer last June, '21:
1) 6'9+ Elite Point/Stretch Big, w/ elite post-scoring & can bring it up the court: Jacob Cofie @cofie_jacob
2) 6'8 Elite "Do-Everything" -including scoring, D & Rding- 3/4 Combo-Forward: @JordanMccullum3
3) 6’9 Elite Defensive 4/5, who' may show he can stretch D's & put in on floor too: Abraham Oyeadier @AOyeadier

Elite Back-Court options seem plentiful for teams with 4-5 likely spots to fill in '24, like CU:
Homerun #1 would be elite chemistry pairing of:
4) 6'8 True Point-Forward, w/ Larry Bird-like scoring: Liam McNeeley @liammcneeley30
AND
5) 6’6 "Sky-High Energy-Guy" Combo guard w/ length for miles: Seven Bahati @BahatiSeven
OR Homerun #2:
Pairing of these 2 Elite Big Wings- that can play 1-3 spots like the 2 guys directly above- may be just as dominate:
6) 6'8 Point Guard Jalen Shelley. Transitioned out of Dual Football like Julian & brother Christian Hammonds: @JalenShelley
AND
7) 6’7 Forward, w/ my fav nick names for coach's son: “Shaolin AJ" or "Lil Giant;" Anson “AJ” Johnson @ajthelilgiant
Any 1 of these 4 guys may have potential to be program-changers (maybe in similar way Jabari is changing CU program now?).
OR
More realistic back-court targets, but as equally-versatile & potentially-dominate for CU:
Combine CU's current elite guard depth w/ a '23 Guard - like 6'6 Point Frederick Dilione @Freddiedilione5
AND deep '24 options at guard:

8) 6'3 Combo, brother Namon Wright already a For-Ever Buff: Mister Burnside @BurnsideMister
9) 6'6 Combo, that could fill 'Nique's Point Wing role: Dasean Brodie @DaseanBrodie0
Guys 4-7 above are big enough to cover 1-3 spots, but last 2 guys (+maybe 1 'guard in 23) may be as potent on D as the bigger guys.

Elite Wings
Tads best chances to to build a FSU-like elite-length team may lie in how deep the '24 Wings are:
10) 6’6 Chance Puryear @chance_puryear
11) 6'8 Jayden Harper @_JaydenHarper_
12) 6'8 Jaianthoni Bearden @jaianthoni
All 3 Wings may prove to reach similar heights as Quincy's NBA-high ceiling.

High-usage 3s that can play like a point-guard -across the line-up- may be key to Tad's stated "Sweet-16 & Beyond" goals.
Tad has recently said that he needs guys who can guard the 5, and then a roster-full of guys who can guard & play multiple other positions.

But guard-depth is what is looking really strong in '24:
13) King-Njhsanni Wilhite- may be future "Ja-Stopper" or "Morant-Lite:" Sanni @yaboisanni
14) Marlon Linton Jr "Cheatcode" @MarlonLintonjr1
15) TJ Williams "Explosive Mr. Consistent" @Tj_williams3
16) Trap Johnson "Open at the Logo" @Trap_Johnson23
17) Aaron Powell "Make me forget Kee" @aaron_powe11
18) Kallai Patton- My "Fav Sleeper" (along w/ Sanni): @kallaipatton
19) Taj DeGourville "Elite Shooter" @_degourville_
20) Ty Virgil "Tough 2-Way" @iamtyvirgil

The list is long for CU prospects in 2024.

And hopefully I will have nothing more to say for a very... very... very... long time! But you-all are probably not that lucky!

Tad coaching USA’s U-18 team at Houston camp best thing for CU program recruiting.

Tad to see elite Texas recruits those 2 weeks: 3 top ‘23 targets (High, Normand, Manning); 7 of my Top-12(+8) ‘24 targets above; +more ‘24 Texas guards in Jaland Lowe, T’John Brown, Jace Posey, Chris Catchings, Jamari McDowell, Shey Eberwein, Maurice Wright.

If don’t get ‘23 big Point Guard Frederick Dillione, need Texas ‘24 big guards, like: Shelly, AJ, Chance, Dasean Brodie, Devon Pryor, Malik Johnson (all 6’6- 6’8 range).

Tad in-early w/ ‘24 guards: Colorado native Andrew Crawford & Colorado transplant Mickey Lewis. Issaic Davis could be 2nd coming of Evan Battey? But Frontcourt strong, if get size in ‘23 & in-early w/ ‘24 big Jacob Cofie & combo F Jordan Mccullum.

Zoom elite point, but pipe dream for CU with national top 25 look. Fellow Washington point Brooklyn Hicks more in CU’s wheel house? Or Powell, Brodie, Burnside? https://247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Basketball-recruiting-Zoom-Diallo-Arizona-Gonzaga-Kansas-Louisville-UCLA-189044909/

Doesn’t feel like CU’s Director of player development Zach Ruebsam’s Georgia connections will keep CU in w/ Moore long? West too deep w/ elite ‘24 wings.

I found it interesting to see how Tad played USA’s Under-18 team: Used big strong wings at 4 (like he does at CU) in most starting line-ups and most bench units. But did play different starting lineup 1 game: with Big Guards Black & Castle at 1 & 2. Sat 4th big in last couple games. Both looks seem to be in CU future: Normand or Diop at some point guard? Big Wings who can play 2-4 heavy on CU board in ‘23 & ‘24? But if CU guys-Hadley 1st?- develop strength of Ty Rogers, Eric Daily, or Cam Whitmore - watch out!

CU seems to be in early with more Juniors in 2014 than ever before:

Bigs:
Jacob Cofie - early offer last year
Doryan Onwuchekwa
Caleb Middleton-said would visit CU in Fall
Abraham Oyeadier

Guards:
Trent Perry- visiting CU this weekend
Andrew Crawford - visiting CU this fall
Mikey Lewis
Jared Harris
Seven Bahati
Robert Hinton

Wings:
Liam McNeeley - real long shot for CU
Jordan McCullum - less of a CU long shot
Chance Puryear
I would add 6’7 G/F Malik Johnson

Forwards:
Dre Davis - strong & skilled wing, play at 4?
Chris McDermott - 6’8, more of a true 4
Josiah Moseley - 6’7, combo forward

CU has 4 spots in ‘24, according to media:
CU has 2 guards visiting and at least 1 big. Maybe F’s Chris or Josiah visit early too? Or just bigs Cofie, Onwuchekwa & Middleton? Chance/Jordan/Dre may be wild card wings?

CU in with 3 bigs & 5 top guards, including Seven Bahati-Surfer Man-May be hard to pry away from the beach? But Jared Harris & he have the elite length to play the 1-3 spots.

Trent & Mikey combo guards, that probably function as true points in Tad’s system. Andrew/Drew at 6’6 can certainly play 1-3.

Doryan/Cofie/Chris/AO/Dre w/ strong 2-Way & Inside/Out games; Caleb & ’25 Jordan more True Stretches-as 7 footers who shoot 50% from 3, Tad's kind of 5!

Personally, I love Trent at 1; Jared at 2; Seven at 3. Harris' wing measured at 6'9, but Bahati looks like his wing-span is closer to 7' than his 6'5-6'6 height too.

But Powell at 1; Lewis at 2; & 6'6 Crawford at 3 could be just as effective in Tad Ball's team-first & position-less system. Wants "players over positions," "skill over size," values the person over the player, High IQ & Character = Wooden's Pyramid of Success intangibles?

Seven has what John Wooden's Pyramid of Success calls elite Enthusiasm.

You want to see what kind of positive Enthusiasm Seven can bring to daily CU practices, watch 2nd half of this:

But I really do think I won't be the last to make the @liammcneeley30 to Larry Bird comparisons: elite scoring, passing, & maybe some of the highest intangibles I've seen for awhile (including, he seems to have really high Competitive Greatness).

Can you please start breaking posts down into multiple posts? Would be much easier to follow if you limited your posts to one prospect per post.

CU is in the running for all 18 below (but no media confirmation on @aaron_powe11 & @darrion1k Sutton. Darrion is in Denver for his junior year, so it's only a manner of time. Powell Top-100-type guard-talent w/ injury to put him out of sight & out of mind).

All the other recruits have media reports tying them to Buffs - follow links above or see their Twitter feeds.

11 BigWings ('26 Canadian McConnell could re-class to '25?):
Top Targets?
1) @CalebMiddlet0n - Stretch 4/5
2) Doryan Onwuchekwa - athletic, do-it-all, w/ 7' wing-span, big-time offer-list, but listing CU in his top schools
3) @cofie_jacob - got earliest Tad offer at CU: after Frosh year & before summer AAU. 2nd do-it-all, w/ elite post game
4) Christopher McDermott - little under-sized at 6'7, but inside/out combo-forward is toughness personified!
@SuperstarrChris https://twitter.com/SuperstarrChris
5) Under-rated 6'7 Forward Devon Pryor @pryor_devon - more recent addition as top CU target?

6) '26 Jordan McConnell

Strong Defense/ 2-way players:
7) Mouhamed L Mbaye @TheLamine10 - built relationship 2 years ago; all-American Juco-level to PAC-12 now?
8) @thedredavis - 6'7 w/ length & built like a brick-wall; seems to have built relationship since HS sophomore
9) Abraham Oyeadier @AOyeadier - gritty 6'10 Post to guard 4s & 5s. ditto: seems to have built relationship since HS sophomore
10) Chike Ndefom @chikendefo11 - more recent contact

11) Isaiah Kalala @IsaiahKalala - ditto: more recent contact

Meant high-academic standards of Canada could help McConnell re-class from ‘25 to ‘24?

Guess you can count CU’s June contact w/ ‘24 guard also:

19)

Jase Richardson @JaseRich4
Top-40 talent? also may be a stretch, Tad calls them home runs.

But Harris Top-40 too? Perry Top-50? Even 4 Star & Blue Chippers Crawford, Lewis, & Bahati in 50-120 range-talent?

6'9" PF. (247 has UCLA as his only "warm" school, and doesn't list a Buff offer.)
