Thoughts on Kendal Briles?

I think we'd all agree that he's a great offensive coordinator.

But does what happened at Baylor make him toxic and a complete non-consideration for CU to run the offense here?

As a reminder, here was what came out abut him in the Baylor scandal:

“Do you like white women? Because we have a lot of them at BAYLOR and they LOVE football players,” Briles allegedly told a Dallas-area recruit.

The lawsuit that included that alleged interaction was filed by a former Baylor student who said she was the victim of a gang rape by two Bears football players. Included in that lawsuit were details about the culture that Art and Kendal Briles encouraged at the school:

According to the lawsuit, the Baylor coaching staff used a “show ‘em a good time” approach in recruiting, which allegedly included taking recruits to strip clubs, making girls in Baylor’s hostess program available for sex, and using drugs and alcohol.

Baylor reached a settlement agreement with the former student last September. Known as “Elizabeth Doe,” an investigation indicated she was “aware of at least 52 rapes, including five gang rapes by not less than 31 different football players under former Baylor Football Head Coach Art Briles.”

"Due you like white women?" is such a ridiculous line I can't believe he said it.

no... **** him

Just in case you were wondering, no thanks on Kliff Kingsbury’s kind.
Kliff would be great at one of the G5 programs in Texas or Oklahoma. Heck, I'd be trying to hire him if I was the New Mexico AD right now.

But if he can't win in the P5 as a Texas recruiter at his alma mater, he's not winning anywhere in the P5.

I meant even as an OC. Never have liked him, fwiw.

Definitely not the kind of guy everyone likes. Also, his brand of Air Raid is not what I want in Boulder. I think he'd win 5-7 games a year. Maybe worse. He couldn't win more than that with Baker Mayfield, Davis Webb and Patrick Mahomes as his QBs.

Kliff Kingsbury fired. Here's the link to his coaching staff at TTU:

@liverflukes @BerkeleyBuff @Bear Fiend -- how did you like Brandon Jones as your OL coach (recruiter, development & performance)?

Re: Brandon Jones
I don't recall any issues with him - think he probably did the best he could do with what he had to work with. Don't have a clue regarding his recruiting abilities but IIRC, the players loved him and cited him as being very instrumental to their development.

He lost a ton of games because the defense was horrific. If he’s an OC then he’d be great

There's a proven turnaround specialist who fired last Sunday who would be perfect at UNM. I'd be open to Air Raid/quick passing-Matt Wells is a guy (and I'm skeptical about the idea of us getting a sitting P5 coach right now) that I think may work-lots of quick passing in that offense.

Tee Martin was let go by USC. I’d love to see us pay up for him. He’s one of the best recruiters in the nation and consistently dominates in our footprint. Finished 11th overall last year in recruiter rankings. Currently at 17th.

remember usc recruits itself, but it wouldn't hurt to have a butthurt usc staffer around Boulder.

Was Tee Martin the first black QB who wasn't an option quarterback to win a national championship?

Tee seems like the perfect “recruiter” we’ve wanted at RB coach. Has experience from WR and QB so should be able to bring some interesting insight to the position.

What he's done with Maryland this year has been pretty impressive, especially in terms of team leadership. It's hard to put a finger on his "offensive style," as it's constantly evolving. I go back and forth on whether that's good or bad, but this chart of % of offensive yards gained running vs passing became insanely even the past few years:

I think the big hallmarks of his offenses are that they get the ball into playmakers' hands, and are deceptively simple (i.e. easy for college kids to learn), but incorporate a ton of shifts and motion (i.e. line up one way, and then shift, and then put one or two guys in motion) to keep the defense guessing.

came across this guy checking out Chip Long. Memphis had the #1 overall ST by S&P rankings in 2016. Apparently he's still there, so he should be not there and here instead.
CU was really good with special teams when they were winning consistently. Jesus, seems like it was forever ago. Sucking at that can damn sure lose you games. We blew plenty against Nebraska like that.
