I have been a Buff fan forever (Eddie was not the coach yet). Many of the players whose names you hear about as old timers I saw many of them play. I was one of the first posters on Buff boards...The Buffs have been one of my biggest passions.
The last 7 to 8 years have been really trying - I have seen the program go through hard times. I have also seen people I know and like be damaged by fan backlash. Now we have a program that many around the country do not think is relevant. I think CU is at a crossroads as a program and I know it is at a crossroads with me.
I use to anxious await gameday and if it was at home we would be packing the vehicles the night before so we could be early to tailgating. I no longer look forward to gameday and we still get there early for tailgating but it is not the same for me. I know the message boards are not as busy as they use to be and different people are sitting around me every week in a premium section - that use to never happen - tells me those people who use to be regulars have dropped their seats.
I told my wife that I was thinking this would be my last year going to CU games...she was shocked but I do not feel like I am part of the program any more. I do not know what the agenda is at CU but if you think it is to win football games and be a major player in college football you are sadly mistaken. And it has little to do with donors stepping - donors have stepped up for years.
I know that Hawkins is going but I would not mind seeing Bohn go also...he is a hollow suit, IMO. CU has gone to style not substance across the board and it is unappealing to me - I hope there are more dramatic changes coming than just changing coaches...maybe that will rekindle my spirits.
