Here's the deal-
According to AZ at Buffscoop and several other posters on various sites, the Cal game pissed off the 'higher ups' at CU and Hawk looks to be gone at season's end. The top 3 names to take over are Mac, Calhoun & McElwain. Sounds like Mac has a slight lead at this time but if you want Mac back it would be great to let the university know w/T-shirts, banners, signs and chants. Are there any students who post here who could get the word out to start "Bring Mac Back" chants from the student section? Anybody with a lot of student "Facebook friends" who would want to start a Facebook campaign ?? Something similar to the "wearing of powder blue" that was done last year.....
I'll post AZ's scoop as he gave permission as long as I credited where it came from.

Just got off the phone with two sources over the last two hours...Here are the bullet points....
-Barring a miracle...and I mean an f'in MIRACLE, Hawk is 100% fired after the season. After the Cal game, Bohn, Phil AND BENSON are all on board with it and they have already notified Hawk as of yesterday morning. They all had a sit down with him. The repercussions of the Cal loss were too much for them to deal with. They are beyond upset about all the time and energy they spent just to see his team come out stink the way they did. So Hawk knows he's done unless he pulls off the greatest season of all time.
-The leading candidates for the job right now are Mac, Mac, Mac, McElwain (sp?), and Calhoun. All three have been notified in a round-about way of this and they are all very interested. For those of you that doubted Calhoun would be interested, you're wrong. He is.
-The NUMBER ONE criteria for the new HC is going to be what staff he is bringing with him. It appears Bohn learned heavily from his mistake about letting Hawkins bring every guy he wanted from Boise with no ixnay power from Bohn or the admin. So each of these three guys are going to have to present whom they have verbal agreements from to be on their staffs and those agreements have to be verified. That is, of course, if by season's end they are still the top three candidates. Knowing Bohn they will be. Regardless, whomever is a candidate for the job has to bring a very experienced staff with him because that is of the utmost importance this time around.
-Bohn is completely open to a Mac/Embree, Mac/Bieniemy, Mac/Embree and Bieniemy, and a Mac/Logan head of staff. He also knows, as I've reported, that Mac will most likely bring his son Tom aboard if he gets the nod. I am told they will have a lot more money for asst. coaches so the possibility of bringing in Mac and Embree is there. They would hire them as the co-OC's and then have one be running game coordinator and one be passing game coordinator or something of that nature. The word is Mac has ALREADY agreed to take less money to get in better assts.
-Bohn, however, WILL NOT in any way, shape, or form agree to a HC-in- waiting deal with guys like EB, Embree or Logan because none of them are proven as head guys at this level and it will be a fluid situation. If they can prove in their years under Mac that they can be head guys than there is a possibility, but to name a HC-in-waiting up front like FSU did with Fisher and UT did with Muschamp is absolutely out of the question. These guys will have to earn it if they are to be the head man after Mac, if he indeed gets the job.
-It doesn't matter if we lose to Hawaii, there will be NO coaching change during the season. Contracts are too difficult to work out so this scenario is out of the question. I would personally like to see what happened if we got blown out by the Rainbows if they would stick to this plan, but it sounds like they will. So those wanting the bird gone yesterday, have to wait a couple more months.
-The admin expects to beat Hawaii, potentially beat Georgia, lose badly to Missouri, beat Baylor, 50/50 with KU, TT, ISU and KSU and get killed by Nebraska. Even if they win 6-8 games the buyout money is there for Hawk. It has already been worked into next year's athletic budget. Again, like I reported, that is part of the reason they took on the Ohio State game. They all want him gone! No crappy or mid-tier bowl will save him.
-Bohn told some donors he has received a lot of e-mails and those e-mails don't help because they are checked often (being University issued e-mails) by CU administrators and he doesn't have the time to read them all so they are pretty much falling on deaf ears. Therefore, it sounds like anyone e-mailing him is wasting their time.
-I am told, and this is BIG, the best way CU fans can support a return of Mac is by chanting his name come the Georgia weekend. T-shirts, signs, etc. That will work HUGE in his favor. I also hear they have some special stuff planned for Mac. So cheer your hearts out if you're going to be there. Also, expect Mac to give a pre-game speech as possibly a sign of things to come for his new players. ;-)
The bottom line is Hawk is done at CU unless he turns into Bear Bryant overnight and the greatest coach in CU history, Bill McCartney, has better than a 60% chance of being our next coach. Maybe even a higher percentage. He just needs to talk to the right coaches and get a great staff in order which we all know he will.
