With a few articles popping up, thought I'd start this thread to follow the upcoming NCAA D1 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, being held in Eugene OR from June 7th through the 10th. Over the last couple years or so, events (except the multi-events) have been broken out by day and gender so, this year, the men's events will all be June 7th and 9th, while the women will be competing June 8th and 10th.

Articles so far-
Daily Camera/ Buffzone article on sophomore Dani Jones-

As noted in the cubuffs article after Regionals completed (http://www.cubuffs.com/news/2017/5/27/track-and-field-five-more-buffs-advance-to-ncaas.aspx) , there are 9 Buffs who qualified for a total of 10 events (with redshirt junior Erin Clark qualifying for 2 events). The below list is from that article, and I've just added their class, as well as when the finals and, if applicable, semi-finals are for their races (converted to Mountain Time, all times are PM). (I will also add heat # info for the semi-finals when it becomes available. Also, moved the listings around some so they are in the order of the runners' 1st races) -
  • Ben Saarel – 1,500 Meters (Redshirt Junior- Semis 5:46 Wednesday (Heat 1), Final (if advanced)- 6:42 Friday)
  • Dani Jones – 1,500 Meters (Sophomore- Semis 5:46 Thursday (Heat 1), Final (if advanced)- 4:41 Saturday)
  • Madie Boreman – Steeplechase (Freshman- Semis 6:02 Thursday (Heat 1), Final (if advanced)- 4:54 Saturday)
  • Sage Hurta – Steeplechase (Freshman- Semis 6:02 Thursday (Heat 1), Final (if advanced)- 4:54 Saturday)
  • Erin Clark - 10,000 Meters (Redshirt Junior- Finals 8:08 Thursday)
  • Makena Morley – 10,000 Meters (Redshirt Freshman- Finals 8:08 Thursday)
  • John Dressel – 5,000 Meters (Sophomore- Finals 8:25 Friday)
  • Joe Klecker – 5,000 Meters (Redshirt Freshman- Finals 8:25 Friday)

It's now Day 1 of the Championships!

As noted in the OP, only 1 Buff racing today- Ben Saarel in Heat 1 of the Men's 1500M semis, scheduled to start at 5:46 PM MT, which looks to put it in the ESPNU coverage slot.

In general, modified the OP as start lists have become available. (Looks like all 4 Buff runners who have heats before their finals are in Heat 1.)

Also, a few more articles now available-

And, another Buffzone article, this one on redshirt junior Erin Clark as she attempts the tough 10K and 5K double- http://www.buffzone.com/cross-country/ci_31042426/cu-buffs-erin-clark-looking-shine-long-distance

Congrats to Mr. Saarel for advancing for the 1st time into the finals!

Less than 2 hours until the 1st Buff (Dani Jones) toes the starting line to start off this busiest of Championship days for the Buffs, as all 5 Buff women who qualified for the Championships are either in heats relatively early in the evening (Jones in the 1500M, Boreman and Hurta in the steeplechase). or are participating in one of the last races of the evening, the finals of the 10K (Clark and Morley).
(As shown in the coverage schedule in the OP, looks like all the races will be on ESPN2.)

Go Buffs!

Looks like Jones is in about 6th with 2 laps to go, but most still bunched together

Up next in the 1st heat of the women's steeplechase is both Madison Boreman and Sage Hurta starting in a moment

Congrats to Ms. Jones!

For the 2 frosh steeplechasers about ready to start, already a great year, but either or both just making the final would be a HUGE accomplishment.

Boreman wins the heat and improves on her personal record by 15 seconds!!!
