I have said this before but since everyone is throwing out who they want I thought I would state it again.
First and foremost, I want an honest search where the candidates are properly vetted. No this blinders on, pre-selection of a candidate. (Personally I think Bohn needs to take a class in hiring.)
I really do not know who is the best candidate nor will I since I do not get to sit in the room and ask the questions.
Here are the minimum criteria:
1. BCS level recruiting experience.
2. BCS level experience as a coordinator.
3. Been mentored at some point in their career by a top coach.
(Hawkins would not of made the cut here - nor does Dave Logan)
Here is what I would look for as characteristics:
1. Someone with passion and energy.
2. Integrity.
3. A good work ethic.
4. Presents himself well.
Here are the questions he needs to answer:
1. What is his plan for recruiting?
2. What is his plan for hiring and retaining a staff? What does he look for in his staff?
3. What is his plan for discipline of his players?
4. What is his plan for academics?
5. How is he planning on interacting with fans and boosters?
Go through a process like that and you are more likely to get the right guy.
There are several listed candidates that I can get behind and some that I cannot but there are a lot more that most of us know nothing about that a good search will uncover.
There are plenty of people who would love a chance to coach at CU.
