With Raiola, I guess he is willing to redshirt if their QB comes back instead of entering the draft. He's rehabbing injury anyway and he can get paid to do so.
If you go back and look at what Raiola was expected to be out of high school it may make sense to use one of their 105 spots for him.
He was considered one of the top prospects in the nation, without the family connections the fuskers never would have had a shot at him. Instead they tried to turn him into a "Nebraska quarterback" running their mess of a system.
That system has consistently resulted in qbs getting beat up and injured. It doesn't develop them as passers and doesn't set them up for success.
We have seen QBs who transferred out of Nebraska, with the red polyester crowd hammering them on the way out, go elsewhere and perform better.
Adrian Martinez who was supposed to be the savior ended up at K-State splitting time for a team that won more games than kNU had the prior two years combined.
Jeff Sims transferred in expected to again be the savior then was gone again after a year. Last year at Arizona State he had a much better season than he had at Nebraska.
In the same time period there were some others who were backups for the fuskers who also left including some who had success at smaller schools or as depth guys at BCS schools.
Oregon doesn't lack for money. They can bring him in, give him a year to get healthy and also to work on developing his skills and get out of the bad habits he developed in Stinkoln.
He's never going to be the Mahomes clone he thinks he is but it wouldn't be a surprise to see him become a quality college QB as he was expected to be coming out of high school.
