I'd love to go. How much does Norman suck?
rep for the SW info! OUBuff now has a deadline to decide whether to go to OU/CU or to the GA home game.
How much does Norman suck?
UGA game. I'll be coming in from IA for it. That should be enough to help you with the decision:smile2:
Been there, done that, got flipped off by enough old ladies to last one lifetime.
Don't need to go back.
**** Norman.
Did you really even need to ask??? Them old bitches went down hard!Did you kick their canes and tip over their wheelchairs after they flipped you off? That's the way CU fans roll. Everybody knows that.

The obvious advantage to staying in Norman is the post-game tailgates can be more festive.
Sacky - You must have had a great time at an OU home game at some point. Your promotion of Norman tailgates sounds like it might be on par with my affection for game day in Lubbock.
I've been to Norman 3 times, including a CU win, and haven't been enchanted with the experience. I rank the Norman gameday experience below KU, OSU, TT and UT due to factors like quality of tailgate, friendliness of fans, existance of amazing sports bar and hotel, and the attractiveness of the town itself. OU doesn't stand out in any of those categories. My memories of Norman involve hanging out under a canopy in on the lawn drinking beer while some average cover band is playing on a flatbed trailor. A dozen different Sooners make lame remarks about dining on buffalo burgers before changing the subject to UT. Then I go to the stadium and sit 30 yards behind the back of the endzone and hear boomer sooner repeated a million times until my head throbs. I get back to the car and turn my Ralphie magnets right-side up, spend the next 45 minutes in gridlock trying to get back to the hotel. Then I walk across the strip mall parking lot and consume margaritas at some chain Mexican restaurant near I35.
Please sell me on Norman. Where do you stay? What bars are fun (anything rivaling OSU-Eskamo Joes or A&M- Dixie Chicken)? I have had some great nights on the town in OKC in Bricktown (Micky Mantel's Steak House, any number of bars on the river walk. But I have yet to find any Sooner magic in Norman.
The OU campus and Gaylord stadium is a little like A&M, but not as pretty. The Sooner fans are not that differnent than those in Nebraska, full of boisterous pride.
but better than Baylor and K-State.
Norman is in Oklahoma. Therefore, it sucks balls. End of discussion.
I'm sorry for those of you who are forced to live there.
OK, I admit that the one and only time I was ever in Norman for a football game was in 1989. the "Things have changed" game. It was such an incredible experience that anything that I came away with from that trip was viewed as a positive. I remember the campus being reasonably nice, and a big Irish Bar across the street from the stadium. I remember going to a bar after the game where they had $.50 drafts, and a group of 10 of us ran up a $80 bill (there was some food and a tip involved, but the vast majority of that was beer - we were trashed). I remember the fans being decent to us and the stadium was impressive.
Have you ever been to Cheyenne Wells or Lamar? Limon? I could probably add every bit of Colorado that is more than 35 miles EAST of I-25.
Every state has its hellholes.
