Absolutely not. I want Hawk to win 10 games a year, every year, forever and never get fired. And I want the school to make loads and loads of money.
I don't understand rooting for financial woes, just like I can't fathom rooting for the team to lose so we can fire a coach.
I root for wins.
I want to see it only to the degree that I like to be proven right. I don't like it if I say "keeping Hawk will cost you more than firing him", and that turns out to be incorrect.
Nik, Nik, Nik. You must do better than this. Anyone who votes for either of the "Yes" questions is either a fusker or, well, they are a fusker.
You are one sick, demented puppy. :smile2:If that is what it takes, then yes, bring on the financial crisis... Only thing is the longer we keep Hawkins around the farther the CU AD will dip into this financial crisis and the longer it will take to get out of it.
Seems to me the easiest way to get out of it is to get rid of the current staff, get some people in here who can win and draw up support and we doing fine.
EB would do wonders for this program right now and will come cheaper than any big name coach who will polarize alot of folks... Other than a few racists I don't see him being a polarizing type guy at all and we know he will be able to get a ton of support. Give him a shot and 3-4 years without extending him.
I thought that a good number of people had said they don't believe that CU will fire Hawkins and pay the buyout no matter how badly we do this year... unless CU sees that they're losing so much money that they're forced into the decision. I actually don't have a problem with that. It worked like a charm for Louisville. Kragthorpe got canned a year later than the fans wanted him gone (after a season of a mostly empty stadium) and it resulted in them being able to hire Charlie Strong and pull in a surprisingly good recruiting class.
I disagree with the approach, but I would understand if there was a will among CU fans to follow the same path. I'm pretty surprised by the voting results, actually.
I get it. I just think the idea that the school doesn't care about results as long as they are making money is ridiculous. At any rate, they know that if they keep losing, they will also lose money. So, it all comes down to money one way or the other. But I'm sure they'd want to correct things BEFORE they start taking financial hits, no until.i think what Nik was trying to identify was the idea that as long as the AD is financially buoyant, then even the football losing year after year after year after....and this year...there is a Big Picture Bohn and Co. can point to whether it's cloaked in the new narrative of "doing it the right way" or "scholar athletes come first at CU"....that you can bracket off the football losing as separate from the whole. a boo boo on the healthy body.
if the AD hemorrhages money into the red, then everyone can see the whole thing is putrid from the top-down. which means, that in order for people/fans/alums/boosters to want to bring the whole shooting match into question or lop off the King's head (Bohn), it might take some financial crisis. this: staged as a dilemma per Nik....not an advocacy.
If the AD is making money, Bohn stays. the former is enough for some people, probably not for the more rabid fans who remember Eddie C and Mac.

If Hawkins doesn't get it done this year, he will not get another chance, guaranteed.
I think the fundamental issue for many fans is what constitutes "getting it done" for the AD. No one is quite sure, given the bizarre comments and subsequent spin after Hawkins was retained.
