Is this the earliest spring practice has started.
I believe so. They did it early 2 years ago, but backed it off a week or two iirc because Leavitt & Tumpkin came on so late.
MacIntyre says that he likes the idea of this because guys get more injury recovery time if they get hurt during spring ball and they also get Wilson's S&C program uninterrupted for about 4 months heading into fall camp to build strength.
Good points and reasoning. ..
There was also an academic rationale.
Despite all that, I'm not sure how I feel. It's one thing to go this early after a bad season, but after a bowl season they just finished practices not too long ago.
Burn out?
Maybe. I think why I'm anxious about it is that the team played so well in the opener last season. I don't like ****ing with success.
I doubt that coach will be hired soon. Taye will help coach the DBs and we will wait.Yeah, I see your point. I'm also wondering why it wasn't started later due to not having the other defensive coach on board.
The other D coach was never going to be another DB guy anyways. Pass rushing specialistI doubt that coach will be hired soon. Taye will help coach the DBs and we will wait.
Was that ever confirmed? Always liked having two DB coaches given DBs are almost half the defense (probably average 5 per play I'd think). The other D coach was never going to be another DB guy anyways. Pass rushing specialist
Mac himself mentioned that he'd like someone specifically dedicated to the pass rushers, while Eliot did the ILBs.Was that ever confirmed? Always liked having two DB coaches given DBs are almost half the defense (probably average 5 per play I'd think).
I'd guess Chidera will be tasked with coaching the pass rush this spring.

If Huntley is truly at the reported 6'3" 220lbs, I don't see how the coaches can keep him off the field, unless he simply can't grasp the mental side of the position. Our WR corps last year was solid, but Fields and Ross struggled mightily against better DBs. IMO, we need more size on the field and the thought of having both Huntley and Winfree out there, along with Bobo, would be scary good.
I assume that he can catch a football as a scholarship, P5 WR, and one of the most heavily recruited kids of the '16 class.Of course there's always the route running and catching the ball part of it! I have no idea really.
Time will tell. I was told he was a work in progress. Lot's of upside, but not ready for primetime.I assume that he can catch a football as a scholarship, P5 WR, and one of the most heavily recruited kids of the '16 class.
So much of a work in progress that he didn't RS and saw playing time at our deepest position last year. But you're right, time will tell.Time will tell. I was told he was a work in progress. Lot's of upside, but not ready for primetime.
Yeah - he had 1 catch for 14 yards against Idaho State! I think a better question is why didn't he RS? Come on Scheckler, your statement was "If Huntley is truly at the reported 6'3" 220lbs, I don't see how the coaches can keep him off the field". He is a physical specimen who was highly recruited. But you know way too much about this game as demonstrated by your posts to date to fall into that trip. Let's let the kid show us!So much of a work in progress that he didn't RS and saw playing time at our deepest position last year. But you're right, time will tell.
With Chev coaching them, not so much. But here's my bold prediction: Our incumbents will be pushed this year. Too much talent coming in.Holic doubting a WR? Never!
