Games thread- MEN'S bball on the road @ UCLA (Thursday, 2/15/24, 7:00 PM MT; ESPN) & USC (Saturday, 8:00 PM MT; ESPN)

Men's basketball (16-8 overall; 7-6 in Pac 12 play) head to La La Land for its penultimate road trip of the regular season. 1st off they'll face off against the UCLA Bruins (13-11, 8-5) this coming Thursday night, after which they head down the road a bit to face the USC Trojans (9-15, 3-10) Saturday night.

Both games are scheduled to be shown on ESPN. (Further info and links for media options available near the bottom of this post.)

Note- In the NET Rankings as I type this (for games through 2/12/24), CU is at #38, while the Bruins are #112 and Trojans #109.

That’s a bit of an apples to oranges comparison. Not even considering they’re different sports, but if you’re looking at them as Freshmen it’s Cody by a wide margin. And if you’re looking at them when Cody is 22 going into his senior season (which won’t happen because he’ll be in the NBA), it’s Cody by a wide margin

Weight and experience are the two easiest things to gain. Cody’s raw talent and physical frame are top notch.

Buffs Embark On Final Pac-12 Trip To Los Angeles​

THE BUFFALOES: Colorado is 16-8 overall and tied for fifth place in the Pac-12 Conference at 7-6, just one game out of third and two games out of second. One of those teams sitting in third just above the Buffaloes in the standings is Thursday's opponent, UCLA, as the two conference rivals are set to meet for the first and only time this season.

Colorado is coming off a home split with the Arizona schools. The Buffaloes defeated Arizona State 82-70 on Feb. 8 before falling to then No. 8/8 ranked Arizona, 99-77 on Feb. 10, putting an end to Colorado's 13-game home winning streak. The Buffaloes have won five of eight, but have dropped three of four heading out on the road where they're just 1-6 this season.

Overall, Colorado is one of the top all-around shooting teams in the country, ranking in the top 14 nationally in all three percentage categories: overall field goal, 3-point and free throws. The Buffaloes are sixth in the nation in free throw percentage (.793), 10th in 3-point accuracy (.387) and 14th in overall shooting (.492).

ABOUT THE BRUINS: UCLA is 13-11 overall and tied for third in the Pac-12 at 8-5. The Bruins have won five straight and seven of their last eight after a 1-4 start to league play. UCLA averages 66.2 points while shooting 41.7 percent from the field, ranking last in the Pac-12 in both categories. Defensively, the Bruins allow opponents 64.0 points per game on 41.1 percent shooting with both figures ranking first in the Pac-12.

Freshman guard Sebastian Mack leads UCLA at 13.3 points and 1.6 steals per game. Sophomore forward Adem Bona is second on the team in both scoring (12.2 ppg) and rebounding (6.0 rpg) while leading the Bruins in blocks (46) and field goal percentage (.590). Sophomore guard Dylan Andrews averages 11.2 points while leading UCLA in assists at 3.7 per game. Lazar Stefanovic tops the Bruins in rebounding at 6.3 per game.

SERIES RECORDS: This will be the 27th meeting between Colorado and UCLA with the Bruins holding a 19-7 lead. UCLA has won the last five and eight of nine overall. The Bruins have won 12 of 14 all-time meetings in Los Angeles.

CU -1.5 today on BetMGM.
Is there somehting we don't know.
UCLA has won 5 in a row, 7 out of 8 wiht thge only loss to AZ on the road by 6.
I sure hope Vegas knows, but something seems off here.
I would put the line at CU +5

I would tease UCLA up a bit just to be safe. I think UCLA wins by 5-7 points, but what the hell do I know?
 
No excuse to not beat these guys. Must win if we want any chance at the tournament. In the first 4 out according to ESPN which puts us in a good position to make it.

Need to cut down on the ****ing turnovers.
 
So many bad turnovers.

That Bona fall where he concussed himself looked painful.
 
This season is circling the drain. I am going to win some gigantic money tonight, so at least there’s that.
