"Both those guys have done some good things for us," Coach Hawkins said. "Obviously Cody has a few more wins underneath his belt than Tyler does but I think Tyler has done some good things as well."

Cody also has more losses. i just don't understand the way the man thinks. talk about selective history.

Tyler has a stronger arm, better movement, sees the field better, has better instincts, and is taller, but Cody has done some good things as well.
You know, the more I think about it, the more I resent Coach's remarks, because it begs for threads like this, in which we end up beating up a great Buff like Cody. It's a bummer.
Cody is everything you could want in a backup quarterback.
He's got game experience. He's a veteran. He's a good teammate. He stays out of trouble. He puts in all the work (film, conditioning, playbook, practice), so you know he's always prepared if you need him and has the respect of his teammates. He's supportive of the starting QB. He's got enough skill that you can win, at least in the short term, with him playing if you're forced into the situation.
But a starting QB at a top program like Colorado playing in an elite conference and taking on an elite non-conference schedule... needs to be a great athlete and/or have prototypical size. For all the good things about Cody, he is not that. If Dan has not or does not accept this regarding Cody (and other players, really, as a general philosophy) then his tenure at CU is doomed to failure.
Neither of our qb's have anyone else in the Big XII or elsewhere saying "Why didn't we recruit those guys". Tyler only looks good when you compare him to Cody and vice versa.
I think hansen should start but is he considerably better than Cody? Not really..
Hansen will start and I don't expect Cody to be coming in much. With the heat the athletic department has/is taking over retaining Hawkins I imagine Bohn will exercise a more direct influence on the football program this year. Bohn knows Cody can't take the Buffs where they need to go and I believe he will issue some directives to DHawkins on some key issues if Hawk starts to wander off track, especially if the season starts to go south. Bohn has to protect the future of the program which means if the team starts to flounder he will try to keep key players happy so they will remain at CU after Hawk is gone.I predict Hansen will be the starter for the season opener - but I also predict that as soon as he makes a mistake, Cody will be in the game.
