CU has put lots of guys in the pros. Anyone know what the biggest gift back has been? I've lived out here since '91 and really haven't heard much in that area.
we could, you just don't know ****.$2 million to strength and conditioning program by one former player:smile2:
I find it hard to believe that CU could not raise the money for a buy out last year:wow:
the money was there, hawk was going to be fired after the NU regardless of outcome, it was a done deal. something happened the week leading up, and our "president" cut the balls off of our AD.Then teach me, I love to learn.
Watson smiled as he recalled a conversation with former Colorado quarterback Mike Moschetti, who played for Watson at CU in 1999 and coached against Martinez’s high school team in California.
“Mike called me up and said, ‘Wats, I’m telling you, this guy can play quarterback. Don’t let anybody tell you he can’t. He’s your kind of guy,’ ” Watson said.
Meaning?
“Mike saw the arm talent,” Watson said. “Everybody knew Taylor could run.”
So, Watson sees ample promise in Martinez’s passing. Intriguing, indeed.
“I like guys with athletic, fast releases, and I like competitors,” Watson said. “Taylor fits the profile.”
Martinez fit the Spring Game profile, for whatever that’s worth. Something tells me it’s worth a lot in Martinez’s case.
I may be daft, but what the heck does this have to do with the topic at hand????

i agree with everything you said, still doesn't make it right. The "something happened" is that the CU officials realized that they were soon going before the Colorado State Legislature, hat in hand, begging for additional funds (or at least lesser cuts) to higher education funding, along with the other state schools. The potential political fall-out from CU football paying out another $3 mill to fire a coach when we were still paying off Barnett could not be ignored.
It didn't matter how the money was raised, or that it was private, not public. The point was: if CU could raise $3 mill privately during a financial crisis, then WTF were they doing begging the average taxpayer for more money? And it would have hurt ALL the state schools by association. so I'm afraid the regents, or whoever was the final decider, made a decision for the best of the school. Education still trumps football.
so the idea was shelved, and Hawkins got another year (at least.)
