Don’t disagree with most of this (talent?) but the “Mel Event” was 100% responsible for us getting waxed this year. Today’s struggles were unfortunately entirely predictable. CU isn’t Bama or USC and can’t hire an instant home run or get 5 stars to transfer in.
Not sure why this is even debated.
Coaches leave for better offers. That's a thing; accept it and move on. The fault lives with our administration for making us an absolute bottom of the bucket offer that can't meet our meager promises.

If you are saying that the reason we suck so bad is that the admin overreacted to Mel leaving and went to the complete opposite in terms of quality, personality, and ambition for the nect head coach, then sure that is Mel's fault.
Or recruit
Or hire effective assistant coaches.

Or coach on the sideline (actually communicate with ANYONE), or make gameday adjustments, or prepare a game plan. In summary, be a legitimate football coach.
Or properly evaluate the QB room
Or show the tiniest shred of inspirational leadership
Not picking on you, but it is quite remarkable how we went from some posters saying "This might be the most competent and best collection of assistants CU has had since Barnett" to "Historically inept" in about 2 months.
Auburn might be one of the few programs in the country with a messier dysfunction than CU, but at least they win some games and have a football NC not that long ago as well as a recent Final Four appearance.

would be interesting to hear from the players who left. Did they actually leave because they could already see the 0-12 coming? Or something else?
