Official Coaching Search Thread

Who does he work for again? Oh yeah-Nick "If you want to do things a different way, go get a head coaching job" Saban.
And there are some big time guys in the profession who have done just that: Jimbo Fisher, Mark Dantonio, Kirby Smart, Will Muschamp, Mario Cristobal, etc., etc.

Dantonio is the only name you threw out that has dealt with any sort of off field issues. Saban replaced Pruitt with Lupoi and Pete Golding (both of whom are really young) because he's tired of losing assistant coaches in my opinion.

What past?! A minor recruiting infraction that he was investigated for and cleared? That’s literally nothing.

Sure, he's a great recruiter, but there's a reason his name doesn't get much play as say........Jeremy Pruitt, Kirby Smart, or Sparkles did when they all worked at Alabama. He got in NCAA trouble at Washington, and his departure from Cal made him look AWFUL. Lupoi's past still gets him in trouble-there's a reason why Mel Tucker got connected to this job by Thamel and him.

He’s only 37. That would put him the 5th youngest coach in D1. His chance is coming. Teams were waiting to see him handle the reins as a DC

I have a friend who works with BuffVision and they were told to prepare for a press conference between Friday and early next week.
That's what Rick's timeline has been. And since there's a good chance we got our guy last night if whispers are true, this makes a lot of sense. Makes even more sense if the timing is after this week's games have been played.

Friday late night right after the PAC12 Championship? I don't see that happening.

Agreed, but if it leaks, Jimmy could travel from San Fran to Denver Sat morning to get it going

Day has a game on Sat and if Ohio State wins convincingly, and Oklahoma looks bad and Georgia loses, Day would be a tough choice cause he would want to coach the playoff

Can we stop with this? This isn't an issue at all. Anybody we'd hire would work the early signing period as our head coach, and then re-join their current program for their CFP game or a bowl if they wanted to coach in it. Scott Frost did it last year. So did Jeremy Pruitt. So did Kirby Smart and Tom Herman. This happens every single ****ing December guys. Come on now.

Yeah, if it's Lake get him here for an 11:00 AM press conference Saturday. We'll get so much coverage. Pre-game, post-game and halftime shows. Leak the news early so that GameDay is talking about it. Every recruit out west will take notice.

If this does not actually happen, I'll know Day is our guy.

Not slamming personally, but that’s called informative non-information.

It’s obvious. It could be tomorrow. And if it goes past Tuesday then RG is combing the scrap heap.

So keep your phones handy and don’t get ****faced this weekend BuffViz. You may have to shoot the new HC on a moments notice. We want it in focus not double vision.
