ok, gonna try to lay this out as objectively as I can.
I was in section 212 row 62 seat 25 today. My wife and two friends from out of town were with me.
I am a boisterous fan. I like to think I am not obnoxious but I whistle, yell, put my hands up for punts, shake my keys for 3rd downs, and stand a lot.
In the early part of the 3rd quarter the Buffs make a good play. I stand up during the play out of excitement and get hit in the shoulder with a hat. I turn around and some old man (CU fan by his dress) 2 rows behind me yells at me to sit down.
We get into it. I don't recall exactly what I said but I generally minded my language according to my wife but was none to pleasant to the guy and he wasn't nice to me either.
His point seemed to be that he couldn't see if I stood up. My point was a) there are nicer ways to get my attention and ask me for a favor than hitting me with a hat b) this wasn't church, people stand up here some times c) I planned to stick the hat up his ass if it hit me again.
Now, without knowing the specifics (unless one of you saw the incident) am I in the wrong here? You will never be the hero getting in a fight with an old man but good lord man, I am cheering for my team, I am one of the fans that is animated, but I am not causing issues. If you wanted to sit down during the game why not stay on your couch?
So, I put it to you...was I out of line? I am willing to accept it if the crowd says yes, but my position is that people will stand and yell and holler and whistle and whatever else at a football game to cheer on their team. and if you go to the game you need ot participate or sit quietly while it happens.
Thoughts?
