Bye week,

Not bye week because the Buffs aren’t playing but bye week because a number of teams with big hopes for the season are at a point of saying bye to their chances of winning divisions, leagues, or going to the playoff. Some are even coming to the time when they say bye to their coaches and move on.

Wednesday night we get SMU (2-2) at UCF (3-1) who still has hopes for a decent season in a game originally scheduled for last Saturday but moved due to Hurricane Ian. Coincidentally each team had this weekend scheduled as a bye week so no further schedule adjustments need be made.

Friday night somehow Fox managed to schedule what may be the seasons ugliest night of football.

After managing to win against B1G perennial losers Indiana, Nebraska (2-3) is at Rutgers (3-2) who will be looking to get back to winning after consecutive losses to Iowa and Ohio State. Nebraska’s bowl hopes were dim to start and with a loss here would be fading away.

That is followed by CSU (0-4) at Nevada (2-3.) Nevada isn’t good but it won’t matter because the sheep are terrible. At least this game won’t contaminate a Saturday. Nevada this season has lost to Incarnate Word and been shut out by Iowa. Not to be topped CSU is coming off a 41-10 thrashing to FCS Sacramento State and their last meeting with Nevada ended 52-10 as Nevada coasted the second half.

Saturday has some early contests matching top 25 teams.

Kansas (19) and no that isn’t a basketball ranking host TCU (17) in a battle of two teams that are surprisingly still undefeated.

Tennessee (8) visits LSU (25) with both teams coming in at 4-1.

The other match between top 25 teams is a PAC12 battle with Utah (12) playing in front of the empty seats of the Rose Bowl against UCLA (25) who just broke into the rankings.

With the teams we love to see lose, Notre Dame (2-2) was expecting a run for a major bowl this year if not the playoff. Instead they have struggled and could easily be 1-3 right now. In their never ending pursuit of money they are playing BYU (16) who hasn’t been impressive in going 4-1 so far this season in Las Vegas.

The school that gave us Dr. Nasty, Larry Nassar may want Dr. Kevorkian after this week as Michigan State (2-3) after being ranked early brings in Ohio State (3) who will be looking to solidify their spot in the playoff rankings. But if they don't turn it around Mel's buyout is only $95.5 million at this point, fully guaranteed.

Speaking of playoff the Sooners had big hopes. Now after forgetting that defense is actually a part of the game and losing two in a row they are now the Laters, as in see you later.

Records don’t matter though because this weekend to go to Dallas for the Red River Shootout against Texas whose hopes have also been shot down after being ranked early as well. This game is usually one of the highlight games of the year.

PAC12 this weekend already mentioned the Utah against UCLA game. The other game that could have big impact on conference standings has Washington State (4-1) on the edge of the rankings at USC (7). The Cougars have ruined Trojan seasons before.

Locally Air Force (4-1) is at Utah State (1-4) who is better than their record would indicate and Wyoming (3-3) who has lost two in a row tries to get back to winning at New Mexico (2-3) who is worse than their record looks.

Northern Colorado (2-3) who got back on the losing track last week may want the mercy rule this week at Sacramento State (4-0) who have already destroyed CSU this year.

Local small colleges continue to make it interesting.

Black Hills State (5-0, 3-0) continues at the top of the standings along with Mines (3-2, 3-0) and Western (3-2, 3-0)

This week Mines host Mesa (1-3,0-3) while Western brings in South Dakota Mines (3-2,2-1)

Pueblo (2-3, 1-2) gets Adams State (1-4,1-2) in Alamosa.

Fuskers down 13-0 late in the second quarter to Rutgers. Nebraska drove down then threw an INT in the red zone.

Do we discuss Nebraska getting crushed by Rutgers in this thread? Or the Nebraska hate thread? :ROFLMAO:

Both but hating Nebraska is a general thing that applies at any time.
Since they are actually playing a game probably best to post here if it is about the game.

If it is about fuskers shagging sheep, making meth, sending their sisters to work the lot at the truck stop, using Trump flags for curtains in their trailers, etc. then the hate thread will do as it does for general jokes

Any team called the Scarlet Knights but dresses in all black kinda deserves to lose, actually.

Nebraska probably going to win after a gift first down on a personal foul after Rutgers had stopped them on 3rd and long.

CSU is pathetic but Nevada somehow looks worse.

Rams have their first lead all season on a pick six.

As bad as Nevada looks so far CSU might actually pick up a win.

Just heard that too - CSU's first lead of the season?!?

Although I'm trying to recall, have we led at all this season?

Don't remember us having a lead but there is a lot about this season I am trying to forget.

Edit: We led 3-0 first quarter against TCU, haven't led since.

And now the Nevada ballcarrier just chucks the ball up in the air for a CSU player to grab and score another defensive TD 14-0 now.

CSU mapped the way for CU to not go 0-12 this year. Go against a team that is so offensively inept that not only do they struggle scoring but they give up a couple of defensive TDs.
