Coming down towards the end of the season. Lots of teams pushing for bowl eligibility, other just trying to save their coaches jobs. All that in mind not as many big games this week as in recent weeks.
Might be a blowout week though as a number of top teams that lost last weekend will be looking to get back on track against less than impressive opponents.
First though we get the the Tuesday and Wednesday MAC games. Not impressive since none of them are better than 6-3 but it may be better than watching reruns.
Tuesday’s games have Ohio (6-3) at Miami OH (4-5) and Ball State (5-4) at Toledo (6-3.)
Wednesday has three games, none of which is worth mentioning.
Thursday the Sun Belt takes over with Georgia Southern (5-4) at Louisiana (4-5).
Friday in addition to the Buffs game we get what should be a fun game with Cincinnati (7-2) hosting East Carolina (6-3). Each of these teams has gone 4-1 in their last 5 games so they are playing well
Not much in terms of games matching two top 25 teams. Nothing that looks like it could shake up the playoff picture.
Highest ranking matchup has (10) Alabama at (11) Ole Miss.
(4) TCU needs to avoid a stumble against a talented but underperforming (18) Texas.
One of the most interesting games might be a G5 battle of ranked teams with (22) UCF at (16) Tulane.
PAC 12 has what could be a very important game with (6) Oregon (8-1) at (24) Washington (7-2). None of the others look particularly competitive.
Three weeks in a row we have been able to enjoy seeing Nebraska lose, pretty safe to extend that to four weeks as Nebraska (3-6) gets to visit (3) Michigan (9-0.) Can we hope to see them lose their final six this year as a tribute to former coach Frosty. Firing him just gives him more time to bang bar girls.
No similar guaranteed losses for Pedo State and Molester State. (14) Penn State (7-2) host Maryland (6-3) and Coach Short Pants welcomes in Rutgers. Both teams are 4-5 but Michigan State will be without the big part of their roster who though it would be a good idea to beat up a couple Michigan players in the tunnel after taking their beatings on the field.
The bad boys from Baylor host (23)Kansas State who will be trying to get back to winning and move up the rankings. Both teams are 6-3.
This week we have the Charmin bowl. Tissue soft and really crappy teams. How bad is UMass (1-8) Arkansas State (2-7) who has beaten exactly one FBS level team all year is favored by 17.5 over them at home.
Locally after a hard fought win over Army and securing the CIC trophy last week Air Force (6-3) is at home against a bad New Mexico (2-7.) The Lobos are on a 6 game losing streak.
Wyoming (6-3) has been inconsistent this year. Shouldn’t matter because CSU (2-7) has been consistent, consistently bad. The boot game this year is in Fort Collins so at least CSU doesn’t have to endure that long dark bus ride home after taking their beating.
Northern Colorado (2-7) gets a fairly weak opponent this week in Northern Arizona (3-6.) Shouldn’t matter because the Bears are weaker, They aren’t the bad news Bears, instead they are just the bad, bad, Bears.
Congratulations to Colorado Mines who has again locked up the RMAC title
This week Mines (8-0,8-2) might have to kneel down on the ball to keep from scoring 80 at home against Fort Lewis (0-8,0-9.)
Fort Lewis has scored 82 points all season, in those same games they gave up 527 including over 65 four times.
Pueblo (6-2,7-3) had a shaky start to the season but with a win at Black Hills State (5-3,7-3) could finish in second and with a 7 game winning streak.
Other games Western (6-2,6-4) host Adams State (2-6,2-8), Mesa (2-6,3-6) hosts New Mexico Highlands (3-5,3-6,) and Western (6-2,6-4) should get a season ending win with Adams State (2-6,2-8) coming in.
