Kinda sucks that 2 of CUs last 4 coaches are on the list.
I wouldn't count Weasel just cause he was our coach. It is just saying hirings not overall coaches and its Bleacher Report...
Weasel's biggest mistake was leaving CU.He could recruit, but wasn't good at other aspects of coaching. He had a good record at CU, and GB won the Big 12 with his recruits. I couldn't stand the guy personally, but he always had good seasons at CU. He also beat CU when he was at UW and UCLA. Hawkins deserves to be #1 on the list - dude was a total dip $h!T.I don't know if this was posted earlier but i found it interesting.

I never liked Slick, but his record at CU was nothing to gripe about considering what it's been for the last 6 years. I think he could have stayed on and had winning seasons, but nothing close to Mac.Ehh I don't know. His teams lacked discipline, lots of penalties and an inability to run the ball. He did good his first couple years with Mac's recruits and momentum, but his last two seasons were not great. He was picked to win the national title by Sporting news in '97 and had a losing season. He had a bad relationship with his players too. He made an ass of himself on national tv chewing out Hessler in the '97 Michigan game and Chris Neaole picked him up by the shirt and threatened to beat the **** out of him in the lockeroom.

Neuheisel had
two 10-2 seasons and subsequent 5-6, 8-4 and 7-5, leaves for UW. I would kill for an 8 - 4 season in 2012.
8-4 was with his recruits for the most part, but with Hawkins program he would probably have had the same success as Embre. I never liked Neu, but he didn't do a bad job while he was at CU.Do you really think Neu would have an 8-4 record with the program Hawkins burnt to the ground?
Except for that '97 season :rolling_eyes:8-4 was with his recruits for the most part, but with Hawkins program he would probably have had the same success as Embre. I never liked Neu, but he didn't do a bad job while he was at CU.

Neuheisel was only here 4 years not 5 and the team was on a downward trend.
So true!!!Any list of worst football hires that doesn't include this guy is totally useless.
anyone on this board could have won 10 games in 95 or 96 with Mac's talent.
If it's true they were on a downward trend, it was because the 1994 Buffs was the most talented team to ever wear black and gold and Slick Rick began the downward trend. He is a joke.Neuheisel was only here 4 years not 5 and the team was on a downward trend.

Considering Slick pulled 10-2 seasons, I think it is not only feasible but probable that coach Mac could have easily had us in at least one other MNC game in those 2 years...sigh.

1995 10-2Neuheisel was only here 4 years not 5 and the team was on a downward trend.
Can't believe you're defending Slick.1995 10-2
1996 10-2
1997 5-6
1998 8-4
1999 7-5 Barnett You are right, but that's a damn good record for 4 years, except for 1997, and the 8-4 was with all his players for the most part. I wouldn't call 8-4 downward. A coach like Mac is a once in a long time thing. GB won the Big 12 with Slick's players in 2001,and 2000 was a disaster 3-8.
I can't stand the SOB. Read my posts. All I'm saying is you ain't gonna find a coach Mac every hire. Slick was a stinking rat, but he won while he was here. Was he as good as Mac - absolutely no. Do you think Slick left the program in better shape than Hawkins? Can't believe you're defending Slick.
