'12 CA TE Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick (Signed to USC)

We are screwed.

well didn't mcnamara's parents want him to go to CU? but he picked OU because that's what he wanted. so there's still hope. also, if the kid is from norcal, USC isn't exactly in his backyard, either. i think it's time we land a big one.

Was thinking about the WR we lost to Oregon a while back.....was it his mom or grandma? Hard to overcome that.

I really hope this is not a case of Mom pulling the ol' an-adult-male-chicken-block. From an outsider’s view, Jalen certainly seems mature enough to decide for himself what is best for him. If he decides that attending the University of Colorado is a better opportunity than spending the next 4-5 of his life in Watts, then I am sure his Mom will support him in that decision. I wish the best of luck to the young man where ever he goes!

You guys should go to espn3.com and watch the underarmour game. JCP is a beast, he will start as a freshman, if we can get him. It will make my signing day.

Great prospect. Good athleticism at his size and potentially devastating blocker.

Rivals is the outlier here and he is still a 4* just outside the their top 250. That says a lot.

Man, would love to get this guy but his mom is playing a major role and is big in SC's camp. She'll conveniently only be going on his SC trip. Fingers crossed JCF goes where his heart is.

"It's SC's weekend to lose. They kind of already won me over." (re: his upcoming visit to USC this weekend) Rivals analyst- 'Of the questions Cope-Fitzpatrick has about USC, playing early is not an issue.' JCF- "I'll play when I'm ready." Well... not looking good.

It's like when you've had that girlfriend for the last 4 months. But then this hot ass chick wants you. She may be a little less predictable, but should be a lot of fun. What do you choose?!

Its good he loves his mom. I like that. If staying close to home is important, so be it.

Well, USC is 400 miles away from Rocklin, CA which is not exactly "close". I'm sure USC is appealing for reasons beyond location or he'd probably be taking a closer look at Cal or Stanford.

You know, thanks for reminding me of that. Yeah, a trip to Boulder vs LA is not that much different. Maybe a tad pricier to go to Boulder. But driving 400 miles would eat up about 6 or 7 hours of your day. Driving to the airport, catching a plane, flying to Denver and driving to Boulder would take an hour or two more and be a helluva lot less taxing.

One thing I don't really get. I've always heard, but don't know, that USC is located in a really bad area. So, I just don't get the attraction other than, maybe, the rep as a football power house.

Well USC has gates around their campus if that tells you anything and students are advised to take cars from off campus housing to campus.

A friend of mine talked to JCF a week or two ago before he visited Boulder. Said JCF truly adores Embree, was maybe his favorite HC he's talked to. However, he's been a USC fan most of his life, and with his family pushing him there, it's still going to be pretty damn tough.

Ah. Sounds like family ties/love for good old USC. Well, thats what we Coloradans keep hoping for with our in state recruits, I guess. Wuddayougunnado?

Sounds like the reverse situation we were in with Taylor Macnamara.

Jalen needs to realize that the name on the back of the jersey means more than the name on the front. Being a Trojan means being part of a disgracefully dirty program that concerns itself with nothing but hiding its latest indiscretion. Like a politician with a flashy smile and whore waiting in the limo. If Jalen truly cares about his family and cherishes their values, he'll be a member of the Buff family.

That is some eloquent **** talking, rep.

No disrespect. But these types of arguments are pretty typical when a kid chooses to go elsewhere. Nothing wrong with getting a degree from USC.
