2013-14 CU MBB SOS Watch (OOC & Pac-12 Opponents)

As a 4 or 5 seed, any chance we stay out west? Total crap shoot? A given one way or the other?

Total crap shoot, imo.

I'd love to grab a 6 or better. 6 is my target number right now. Keep an RPI in the Top 20 and that should happen.

If Arizona stays pretty high in the rankings they will undoubtedly get sent to San Diego for their first 2 games. It's possible we could also get sent to San Diego under a different regional but Spokane or San Antonio are more likely destinations if we're a top 4-5 seed. SA is actually about 100 miles closer to Boulder and the committee takes that kind of stuff into account for top-4 seeds.

But yea, it's most likely a crap shoot unless we're a top 2 or 3 seed. Sometimes they even have to ship 4-seeds far away due to 2nd/3rd-round site locations.

New Year's Day games we care about:

Harvard hosts Boston College (2pm)

Wyoming hosts non-D1 Western State (2pm)

Air Force hosts Utah State (6pm, ROOT)

CSU hosts #21 SDSU (7pm, CBSSN)

Man, living out here, and for purely selfish reasons, I'm wishing that it was the old way of sending teams to locations based on the region they were in - 2nd and 3rd round games just down the road in Raleigh!

I don't care for the pod system either. Each site should host games for 1 region. They end up giving some teams who doesn't necessarily deserve it a chance to play very close to home.

Harvard with a 14-point halftime lead on Boston College.

And Wyoming is taking care of business against its D2 opponent.

Holy ****. AFA just took down Utah State in CO Springs. Thank you, Zoomies! 73-72

(Can't believe my sports interest has changed so much I've been watching that instead of the Fiesta Bowl.)

In other news, SDSU is up 36-27 on CSU in FoCo at the half. On CBSSN if anyone's interested.

Eric Moreland of Oregon State is off of suspension and will be available.

SDSU beat CSU by 10.

Thursday, 1/2, games we care about:

#10 Oregon at Utah (6pm, PACN)
UT Martin at Austin Peay (6pm)
Washington at Arizona State (6pm, ESPNU)
Arkansas State at TX-Arlington (6:30pm)
Cal at Stanford (7pm, FS1)
Washington State at #1 Arizona (8pm, PACN)
Oregon State at #20 Colorado (8pm, ESPNU)

Oregon result was what we wanted -- still undefeated but had to grind out an overtime game. Let's see if them spending 4 days at altitude does its thing for us on Sunday.

UT Martin officially sucks ass.

Washington is either much better than I thought, ASU much worse, or this one was a fluke. Huskies destroyed ASU in Tempe.

Arkansas State is looking like it could Dance. Barely broke a sweat rolling TX-Arlington on the road.

Cal won by 7 at Stanford. That's probably right on the number of points Monty is good for over Dawkins. Teams are even.

Arizona let off the defensive pressure late, allowing Wazzu to finish with 25 after scoring 7 in the 1st half.

Some big RPI bumps tonight, with Cal going all the way to #50 with the road win and Washington moving all the way to #137.

Friday has 2 games we care about:

Georgia plays at an 11-2 George Washington

Baylor has a pre-Big 12 warmup against Savannah State.

Games for Saturday, 1/4:

#1 Arizona hosts Washington (noon, PACN)

Elon at Western Carolina (noon)

#6 Oklahoma State at Kansas State (2pm, ESPNU)

Oregon State at Utah (2pm, PACN)

Arkansas State at Texas State (3:30pm)

CSU at New Mexico (4pm, ESPNU)

Wyoming at Nevada (4pm, ROOT)

Jackson State hosts Alabama A&M (4:30pm)

UCSB hosts Masters in a non-D1 game (5pm)

Harvard at Rice (6pm, CBSSN)

Air Force at UNLV (8pm)

Add Masters to the list of schools I've never heard of, I can't really recall hearing of Alabama A&M, but it makes more sense.

Masters is a Christian college in Santa Clarita. I was born right by there and got offered a baseball scholarship so that's the only reason why I know of it. Mike Penberthy went there if any of you guys remember him from the lakers in the early 2000s.
