Official Construction Update Thread

When they enclose that, how far up is it gonna join to the sideline seats? About halfway up?

I think one of the best improvements to the aesthetics of the stadium during game is largely unintentional. Since they insist on using the thunderchute, at least it will look semi integrated fitting between the new seating sections/under the bridge once it is completed.

May have been there a while, but just noticed a new foundation poured in the NE corner, as well as some below ground work

Discovered the reason for the foam. They will likely be pouring concrete over it to create the seating areas. If you look at the photo today you will see what I mean. Not sure exactly why they did that over the concrete that is already there, but that appears to be what they are doing.

That's what SINKRATZ and I were talking about above. They use it for forms and to reduce weight.

I'm probably not the only ignorant idot who read those posts and thought you guys meant the forms you pour the concrete into to make the shape (and they're easier to carry around the site since they're made of foam). :smile2:

I thought you meant for formwork to support the concrete slabs. Which I guess this is, but I envisioned it differently

I wonder if they are pre-casting the seating sections?

The way they are building the form work, I don't think so. I would imagine though that they have some kind of reusable stadium form to make it faster. Could be wrong though. Watching stadium construction is interesting because I have never been able to watch the process start to finish.

Pouring on two of the foam sections on the west side today.
scaffolding done on club section, formwork should be done tomorrow.
Rebar and formwork going up on the east loge box.

Tower crane being put up in the back ground, you can see the base already installed.

Also Folsom is painted!

I wonder if the neighbors are enjoying the LOUD noises from the construction going on in folsom this weekend. Oh wait, I don't care.

Someone who chooses to live next door to a stadium had no reasonable expectation that there would ever be noise coming from that stadium in the evening... oh wait. Nevermind. :wink2:

Unfortunate, but not totally shocking. Big projects rarely come in under budget.

Oh boo ****ing hoo, they are lucky I'm not running the equipment, id make it as loud as possible. Concert, well I'd let the band handle that.

EDM should be banned. WTF, a concert where the act is a DJ?

Hell, I won't even pay a cover charge if the club has a DJ instead of a band. I can't imagine going to a concert to see a DJ. Generational thing. I missed the cut off and just don't get it. My sister's 5 years younger than me and I can remember her having favorite DJs.

This indicates that they still haven't awarded all of the construction work. Otherwise labor costs would be locked in. Differing site conditions related to soil is always the biggest risk in a new construction project. It's pretty normal to carry a 10% contingency for modifications. But the labor costs are more related to a bust in the cost estimate. We are also finding costs to be higher than anticipated in our projects back east.
