Let's all calm down

iNMHO Hawaii beat CU Because of a clever, gimmicky defensive scheme. They hAve a strong LB core ( much better than ours) and an inexperienced Dline. They ran linebacker stunts all night which was a brilliant move by Mason. Our oline didn't know how to pick this up. It is also the reason we were able to get Adkins going cause UH LBs were not gap assigned. This kept Sefo on the run and uncomfortable. We should have put up 300 yards rushing on this, but our coaches caught it late.

They'll correct this now. Made us look worse than we are. Coaches slow to respond.

It all depends on the team we play.

I'm not saying it's gonna happen for sure, but I'm damn confident we are going to destroy Nicholls State.

Didn't Nichols State almost, and I mean it came down to the last play, beat nebraska last year? Or was that some other ****ty team?

Despite all the anger, sadness and vitriol toward each other right now is there anyone here who really thinks you won't win your next 3 games - which are essentially home games?

Unfortunately, many on this board now anticipate us losing to csu and potentially not losing to UMASS.

I fully expect to win the next three games. That doesn't make any difference to the team's success this year, though.

I think UMASS is the best of the next 3 this year and I guess that's all understandable but you guys still have a lot of home games this year and your away games are against a couple of weak PAC 12 opponents. I understand the reasoning of Hawaii being a "must" game but it appears you are still in it.

I'm guessing the real frustration is that you all saw regression towards crappy and unprepared play in your first game and you don't see how it is possible that anything can change over the course of a season? Is this the main thing right now?

I caught it that running was successful during the two touchdown drives. Then CU abandoned the run in the second half. So by "our coaches caught it late" I have to assume you mean on the bus ride back to the plane.

Exactly. From everyone's reports throughout camp, to the opening of the new facilities, the hiring of Leavitt and Tumpkin on the defensive side of the ball - we as fans expected to be turning the corner. It was assumed that sefo would be steady, our wr corps would be solid, and our OL play would be improved with a veteran line and returning starters at tackles and center.

What we saw was sloppy offense, conservative play calling, and dismal special teams. I think the defense was the bright spot.

Absolutely were still "in it", but the chances for a bowl game took a large hit by dropping the first game out of the gates. I fully expect that the Buffs should win the next 3, and then challenge teams in conference. Wins against Wazzu and OSU should be possible, but CU has been a dismal road team for the last decade. Even winning those games leaves us with two games that we will need to pull large upsets.

Essentially, the Hawaii game was a huge block towards respectability and towards a bowl game. It's a shame that the players/coaches didn't embrace that.

They didn't abandon the run in the second half...in the 4th quarter Sefo had to pass cause he was running out of clock.

I've taken a few days away from football and the board. That was an emotionally draining game in so many ways for me.

I went back and watched it again (have no idea why) and came away with a few notes that I am sure has been discussed thoroughly.

1. It seemed like we were completely unprepared for this game. From the very beginning to the end. We found some momentum in the running game and rarely went back to it. I just don't get it and this pounds home how Lindgren will always be a pass first OC, which sucks. We also ran just about every single route as a curl. I get what he is trying to do, to set up the deep ball, but my god, that was a pathetic route tree.

2. I don't know if I've seen a team have so many mistakes on big plays. It seemed like every penalty CU had resulted in a gigantic play CU had just made that negated it. From long returns, to interceptions, to fumbles, to missed wide open passes, etc. Team is still snake bitten, I think.

3. I'm over our special teams coordinator. All three years in game one have been a disaster. I am not going to discuss this anymore, as I am over it.

4. It seemed like our Guard and Center play were in different hemispheres. They better get that fixed as I think every team will now have film on what to do. Blitz up the middle, all day long, if I am Umass.

5. Our Dline seemed to be disruptive for most of the game. The two ILB's were non-existent it seemed. I thought the secondary was pretty solid, except for a few mistakes by Crawley. I hope we start bringing more pressure.

6. Hawaii was pretty much the same team. They just had a better QB this year.

7. Our QB seems extremely tentative. He did have a lot of pressure and made some plays out of it, but he rarely audibled when the pressure was coming. Hawaii made it very obvious but we didn't seem to make a change once they showed it.

I still think this is a better team than last year, but we have a lot to change and that starts with our coaches. They laid a huge egg in game preparation. We had better win the rest of our non-conference games or I am not sure you can stick with this staff much longer. We have some winnable games left and can still get to the 5-6 wins I was thinking would be possible.

I have no expectations. Only hope and trepidation. I could see any scenario from great improvement and some big upsets to totally ****ting the bed.

Q. Why are internet browsers basically useless in the new coaches offices at Folsom?

A. Because nobody on MacIntyre's staff can't figure out how to string three W's together.
Why did Mrs. Paterno move to Boulder? She wanted to get as far away from college football as possible.

If a tornado ever rips through Boulder on a Saturday, the CU end zone is the safest place to seek shelter because you are unlikely to see a touchdown there.
