Norvell to interview at Nevada

Fleck only wants a P5 job, out of the running at Cincy.

Lincoln Riley interviews at UH.

Weird hire from a recruiting perspective. Rhule has never coached in TX, and his background is all northeast with the exception of one year at UCLA. He'll get 5 or 6 years there. They've almost given themselves the death penalty with this recruiting class.

Footballscoop:
Houston: Lincoln Riley “hit it out of the park” during his interview with Houston, Dennis Dodd writes for CBS. Sources connected to the search have told us the same. We’ll keep you posted.

I've seen posted that the biggest hangup with Houston getting certain coaches is that they know they're looked at as a stepping stone and they are requiring a large buyout as part of any coaching contract. Agents for guys like Kiffin who would want to parlay the UH job quickly (within a year or 2) into a major P5 gig won't agree to this stipulation. I think Lincoln Riley would be an excellent choice for that job.

Smart on their part and try to change the dynamic.

This is an amazing gamble.

Let's assume Baylor is betting on him, 5 years guaranteed, 3M a year (as a part of a 7 year agreement).

Rhule looks at it as a $15M pay day guaranteed, and if he blows it, he is set for life. If he does what he thinks he can do, he can make Baylor successful again and parlay that in to something else in 5-ish years.

Good for him, but good luck to him. I have a feeling this will end badly for the reasons already noted...

SJSU tidbit, since this is one that could impact our staff-Ron Caragher made 546k there. (HT coachingsearch.com). I don't know offhand what BL makes, but it's probably in that range. Names they threw out included Klayton Adams, Brent Brennan (WRs coach for the Rodents), John Defilippo (Eagles QBs-was MM's first OC at SJSU), and Jeff Garcia

With Willie Taggart to Oregon, McMurphy also says that USF looking at coordinators for its open job: FSU's co-OC Dawsey, Bama's OC Kiffin & tOSU's DC Schiano.

No Charlie Strong? That job seems perfect for him this year.

I've seen some mixed sentiments about Taggart on Twitter. Some people say that he has done well, considering the programs he's been with, while others have said his recruiting hasn't gotten better and he has actually underperformed his talent level from from one of his decent recruiting classes from '13-'14

Once again with Oregon it all comes down to how their defense develops, if he brings in a good DC he will be fine but if he doesn't it will be more of the same of the last couple years.

Solid coaching hire, but not really scary. He can light it up on offense, but his defenses tend to be crappy. Sounds like same old Oregon without the breathless perfection of the Chip Kelly offense.
