Coaching carousel in full spin...

I hope he stays. CU does pretty well against him and he appears to have figured out OU. :smile2:

2-6, with both wins coming in Lubbock due to questionable officiating that even the replay officials cant get right.... not to mention the 10k donation he made so his offensive line can use "take down" holds on almost every play....

Sour grapes... :smile2:

I just saw a interview with him on espn. He didn't deny anything. I think he's leaving after the bowl game.

Won't drag out that long, will happen today / early tomorrow. I figure he's waiting on word from UM that they found a couple donors to float him $4m, if UM can't find that he'll stay at WVU.

So they're replacing Lloyd Carr, a solid recruiter and average gameday coach who folds like a wet paper towel in big games, with Rich Rodriguez, a solid recruiter and average gameday coach who folds like a wet paper towel in big games?

Brilliant move by UMich, simply brilliant.

On the plus side, though, Michigan's biggest problem for years has been trying to stop the spread. Maybe seeing it in practice will help them learn how to defend against it.

Right. Coaching at Michigan and coaching at WVU is comparable. That's the first time I have ever heard that argument, but I suppose you can go with it.

rumor is that white will consider leaving this year if he's drafted in the baseball draft. slaton is going to the nfl, and devine is considering transferring.

Although I was looking forward to having WVU come into Boulder next year on top of their game and having the Buffs get a shot at beating them, I'm really liking our chances that much more right now with the turmoil that will be going on with WVU

he only went there to play for RR and his offensive style. he has about 6 kids in florida and has a redshirt year available to go to UF or UCF and finish out his career.

it never fails to amaze me that some athletes simply cant keep their **** in their pants, especially at such young age. having multiple kids before you even finish college is just irresponsible. they are still basically kids themselves FFS.

Spoke to one of my friends, an attorney back home who is one of the top boosters to the WVU program. Said he talked to Rich yesterday and Rich assured him that he had nothing to worry about, etc.

He finds out that from the WVU AD that Rich agreed to a deal with Michigan at the meeting on Friday, came back to Morgantown on Friday and coached practice, went to the WVU Fiesta Bowl presser on Saturday morning, sat in with the team meetings on Saturday, then he went into WVU's AD office and said, "Let's work out a deal for my buyout, I'm leaving." Then he left the ADs office and went to his office and called recruits all night recruiting them for Michigan, etc. At 1:30pm ET today he went into a meeting with his players and spoke to them for like 2 minutes, told them he was going to Michigan and left. A couple of the players tried to ask him some questions, he ignored them and walked right out.

SMU is taking their own sweet time to pick a coach. Barnett isn't a lock with the Mustangs.

Apparently RR's letter of resignation says he'll resign on Jan 3, the day after the Fiesta Bowl. WVU's administration doesn't want him to coach them in a bowl game, for that to happen they'd have to "fire" him and he wouldn't be on the hook for the buyout. Still very interesting.

If that's the case, they should call his bluff. Since he is an employee of the university until January 2, maybe there is some janitorial or kitchen work he could do between now and then. Keep him from hitting the recruiting for Michigan if he is going to draw a check for another two weeks.

Seriously though, I'm pretty sure that any employment law would allow WVU to pay him through his resignation date without actually requiring him to work, right?

He can't be reassigned. I'm listening to the WVU Sunday night sports talk show, they brought that up.

What WVU could do is say, you have X number of vacation days left, take them, take all your sick days. Terminate his use of his courtesy car, cell phone, disable long-distance from his office phone, etc.

They can't fire him if they want their $4m. They can't catch him in breach of his contract, but he'll get off for a lot less than $4m.

You're right, call his bluff, let him coach it out, and then on 1/3, ask for your $4m.

It would be a very uncomfortable situation for everyone involved for him to stay on and coach the bowl. I seriously doubt Rodriquez wants to be in that situation any more than WV wants him there.

When Hawkins took the CU job his start date was listed as Jan 1 because it saved the university money by waiting until the end of the calendar year. I'm guessing there is a similiar dynamic in play here, but I'll be very surprised if Rodriquez is actually on the sideline at the Fiesta Bowl.

Well, the Rodriguez rumors were true. It will be interesting to see what happens next. I figure Slaton is gone, White may be back since he would be converted to WR in the NFL, unless he goes BB. Devine? Who knows. I didn't know he was doing a Travis Henry impersonation.

Looks like WVU is in a tailspin. That is good news for the Buffs, I was really worried about this game next year.

Yep - this news does nothing but make me happy. It can only improve our chances over the next few years.

As for Michigan - I really don't care at all (ditto that for the entire Big 11). Will be interesting to see how RR does there...would be funny if they started off poorly again next year - now that's entertainment.

Solid "rumors" back in WV that those 3 are gone, Reynaud is gone too.

WVU short list includes Terry "the weeble wobble" Bowden, Jim Grobe and Todd Graham. Others on the list include an asst. on the UF staff named, no kidding, Doc Holliday. Does anybody think a coach named Doc Holliday at WVU wouldn't be hilarious?

Dark horse Big 12 coach who could do well at WVU, Mangino. No news, just pure speculation on my part. My $$$ is on Graham. Young, dynamic and has WVU ties.
