2021 Official Fall Camp Thread

Shrout looked like a competent backup. We can't change B Lewis game. Running is part of his game. So the idea of limiting his running because of the lack of a backup to prevent injuries will backfire. It might actually lead to injury if a player is restricted in what he can do. We have to get Drew Carter ready to step in. He will probably play this year.

We'll see. He can't get. Thankfully we've got the cupcake to open the season-need to pummel UNC so we can get Carter (ideally) a half of work.

Its A Trap GIF

In the silver lining category (and this in no way minimizes Shrout’s injury)
- The fact that Lewis has Shrout pushing him all summer made him step up his game; vice just be anointed the starter.
- Having Shrout injured prevents splitting the team into two camps - the Shrout camp and the Lewis camp. There is no option now.
- Carter was a pretty solid recruit and getting him reps early…since he will, will be beneficial to us.
- Carter, from what I’ve read, is more of a dual threat QB, so we won’t have to change up our plan as much if he has to/when he does come in.
- Shrout didn’t “lose” the job so he won’t have I’ll feelings and his leadership will be vital on the sidelines (esp with Carter).

You lost me at “Carter was a pretty solid recruit…”.

At this point he is every other QB not named Lewis that CU has recruited the past 20 years or so, JAG. He could be a little better than CU baseline like Luifo or Montez or below CU baseline like all the rest. Sadly, CU baseline is not even top 50% G5 level at QB.

You should try out 247. I think you could do very well there

How pathetic am I that the only thought I have is "gosh, I hope none of them gets a waterborne disease like e-coli or giardia."
In reality, my initial thought was “Boulder county is really going to let all these people with their football gear on get into the creek and risk polluting it?”

Jake Wiley is turning the corner. That is why we shouldn't give up on OL early. It takes time for OL to develop. Like I said months ago
CU has OL talent, the problem is they are young.

We’ll have our answer on Wiley and how well he’s integrating into the OL after a series or two into the UNC game. If they’re dominant and the RBs are having a field day, they may be on track. If it’s competitive in the trenches after a series or two, they’re f__ed. Either way, it will be obvious to all of us.
