CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

I don’t see it either. I keep hoping, “hey maybe if they got together and they could recruit well enough they could create some really good teams to compete against the other 2 conferences and kinda lock down Texas with all the schools playing in that region.”

But then reality hits and these little ****s all want to be Instagram famous so they’ll go wherever they’ll get the most clicks and the biggest paycheck. I think moving helps, I’m just not sure how much at this point, we’re pretty f’ed. Maybe Amazon will over pay to air college football? Big money donors make football good, ours are useless I guess.
Big money is gone from Colorado until RG and KD are gone.

RG maybe, definitely on Dorrell, don’t think anyone is thrilled with him. RG did get some people to donate and actually take care of some issues so he hasn’t been all bad. But who was that woman that was supposed to donate an undisclosed amount that was the largest? I don’t remember much about it now but was it an endowment? When she dies? I don’t know how this **** works lol.

They’re going to have to get creative with the streaming services and other networks like NBC and CBS to go along with the likely ESPN partners. It’ll likely be a mess with games on a ton of different channels/streaming sites but anything to get more money in the door

So it’ll be like the PAC12? Lol. Worst conference to watch a football game by far. It’s been frustrating for so long now.

Well, I do think a merger with the top ACC programs could rival both, but it won’t happen.

Clemson
FSU
Miami
UNC
Duke
VT
UVA
Oregon
Washington
Utah
CU
AZ
ASU
Ok St
TCU
Baylor
TTU
KU

Would be an elite football and hoops conference and would rival both B1G and SEC. Logistics would be a nightmare.

Wild card could be getting ND to join at a higher percentage of the pie
If NBC or CBS decided to throw around fairytale money it could happen but it won't.

Not a random person online or clickbait Twitter journalist. Talks definitely on if Athletic is reporting
Part of what makes this one intriguing is that Woelk retweeted it. As the official CU mouthpiece, I can’t imagine he does that if there aren’t serious legs to it

That conference would be stable.

Btw sounds like we’re in a 30 day media negotiating window starting yesterday.

Wilner thinks this drags on and the remaining PAC-12 schools wait it out for that

That sounds good to me.

The more I think about it all, I wonder if the 6 Pac teams are waiting to see what the media deals would be for the Pac10 relative to the Big18. Speculation that Pac10 would be $300m or $30m per. Also speculation that a Big18 would be $500-$600m ($28-$33m per).

Not much of a difference between the two and I have to imagine neither Oregon or Washington want to get locked into a long term deal with any conference outside the B1G or SEC right now, so maybe they are thinking it makes more sense to roll with the P10 for the next few years at $30m/program.

Big 18 would be more stable and safe long term, but I’m not sure what the incentive is for anyone to really move right now if the money is the same.

If you don’t jump at the Big12 now, CU might be left without a viable path in a year or two and end up in the MWC.

IMO, the Pac12 is finished. If it wasn’t for the B1G waiting on ND, then UO and Wash would already be gone. As soon as the SEC or B1G offer they’re gone and so is the conference. The media companies know this and it will greatly impact the deal that the PAC gets now.

Again, take it with a grain of salt, but this would suck quite a bit if CU was one of the two that the Big 12 is possibly now deciding on not inviting.

Then make an argument for staying in the Pac 10. I'll wait.

Why would their desire for a GoR that could be like the ACC's be a hindrance to the four corners schools joining?
Not an issue for the 4 but for the 2– Oregon and uw. They can’t sign a big GoR with the big12 and then sneak out to the big when and if the big decides down the road to expand. I think we are likely in a lull again now while the pac tries to figure out what the best tv deal might look like— given how little leverage the conference has with the network, i think we are probably looking at the pac having to wait at least until the exclusive window is over before it really knows if there is enough money to hold the conference together (and maybe add some g5). Of course, maybe the network has some fear or data about say amazon potentially being interested. That might cause them to sweeten the deal before the exclusivity runs out. but, the real leverage is held by the big and the network— of course.

i am not sure if i would laugh or cry if the sec did actually decide to expand west and take the 6 from the pac. That speculation seems totally off base.
