Rank B12 locations in order of where you would want to attend a CU game

What is your ranking for the current, as of July 31, B12 cities/towns that you would want to visit starting in 2024.

Tier 1

None

Tier 2

1) BYU, Provo UT. I can stay in Park City and have only a one hour drive to the game.
2) TCU, Forth Worth TX. I can stay in Dallas and have only a 45 minute drive to the game. I know quite a few kids of friends that have attended TCU so I could see people I know and like.

Tier 3

3) UC, Cincinnati OH. Close proximity during basketball season to Lexington, Louisville, Columbus and Bloomington. Could catch some good hoops games with a little driving.
4) KU, Lawrence KS. Have driven through, and spent the night here on a road trip. Good friend is an alum and promises it is a good college town. Biggest mistake he made was not going into the burger business with his now wealthy brother-in-law who owns 20+ Sonic franchises. Do you miss the Sonic commercials that Fox always showed during CU's previous life in the B12? Me either.

Tier 4

5) UH, Houston, TX. The fourth largest city in the country must have someplace decent to stay and have some decent restaurants. But the weather.

Tier 5

None

Tier 6

6) BU, Waco TX. Whoa whoa whoa, wait on here just a hot minute BJ. **** Bailer. Yes, **** Bailer, but at least we can stay in Austin which is only 90 minutes away and Mrs. Jim can visit Chip and Joanna's store/restaurants.

Tier 7

7a) OSU, Stillwater OK. Middle of nowhere tornado alley, only place to stay within a couple of hours is OKC or Tulsa. Retinas might burn out on a sunny game day with all those Cowboys in bright orange polyester pants.
7b) ISU, Ames IA. Middle of nowhere tornado alley, only place to stay within a couple of hours is Death Moans. At least we could tailgate with A-hole Skin.

Tier 8

9) TTU, Lubbock TX. At least they give fans a bunch of free tortillas.
10) WVU, Morgantown WV. What state names itself "West" when the state it is west of is actually farther west than the state named "West"? I'm a bit nervous that I've ranked this too high. What is someone to do if they need emergency healthcare ? Drive 90 minutes to Pittsburgh?

Tier 9

None

Tier 10

11) UCF, Orlando FL. Lots to do here. Bring bedbug and cockroaches home from the hotel, visit the UCF National Champions museum highlighted by Scott Frost, and see where outer space was invented.

You forgot to include the Big Texan in Amarillo for the Tech trip. Just be sure to have a night reserved at the hotel after downing a 72 oz steak along with other food in under a hour to avoid being charged $100 for it. I have no idea how comfy those toliet seats are in those hotel though.

You forgot KState which is appropriate because it should be with Orlando.

1. Lawrence/Manhattan. In-laws are from Kansas.
2. Provo. Want to see what it's like with the mountains on the other side.

End of list.

The wife is super excited about joining the Big12 now that she learned UCF is going there too. Should be an easier debate to go to away games there, but Disney will also have to be on the itinerary.

The Big 12 cities I want to travel to in order:

1. Tucson AZ
2. Pittsburgh PA
3. Seattle, WA
4. Morgantown, WV
5. Cincinatti, OH

Not giving Orlando FL my business until the governor is a human being.

I have no desire to visit any other city.

Tier 1:
  • BYU. could fill the road trip coming and going with cool stops and make a great 4 day weekend
  • WVU. close to family in Blacksburg, VA
Tier 2:
  • TCU, Houston, Baylor. I haven't spent much time in the Dallas, Austin or Houston metro areas, would use a roadie to fill correct those gaps in my travel history
  • UCF* if in November would be a decent time to leave CO for FL, hit beaches or the FL parks. Earlier than that, UCF moves
Tier 3:
  • Cincinnati. I haven't spent any time in Cincy since I was a teen. I'd be fine with a weekend there
  • Kansas. KC is a fine city and I haven't explored it that much
Tier 4:
  • KSU, OK State, Texas Tech. Haven't been near any of these and don't see reason, other than a game. I could be missing something

No:
  • Iowa State. I lived in Des Moines for four years and attended multiple games at Jack Trice Stadium. I don't have anything left to do in Ames

1. Tucson AZ
2. Pittsburgh PA
3. Seattle, WA
4. Morgantown, WV

I will do Fort Worth and Orlando and Ames. The others would be highly dependent on how impactful the game is.

It's grim seeing it written out like this.

TBH, I'm probably not going anywhere Tier 3 or below on this list:

Tier 1:
  • Houston- Houston is a great city with good food and lots to do. If it's an October/November game the weather will likely be ok. Probably a fun game, too.
Tier 2:
  • Morgantown- drivable for me, have heard great things about the atmosphere
  • Cincinatti- I have never been, but have had people tell me this is a sneaky fun town
Tier 3:
  • Lawrence- have been once. a pretty fun little college town
  • Ames- have heard good things about this one, too
Tier 4:
  • Provo- for the spectacle
  • Fort Worth- meh
  • Orlando- I guess. The kids love Disney and it's fun to take them there.
Tier 5 (literally no desire, at all)
  • Stillwater- **** that
  • Lubbock- DOUBLE **** that
  • Manhattan- TRIPLE **** that
Tier 6 (I will fight you if you even suggest we go here)
  • Waco- **** THESE GUYS, IN PARTICULAR

Yeah, but do you have any idea how big houston is? The light rail covers a fairly small part of central houston.
You also have to account for the daily shutdown because another idiot either walked on the track or drove their car on it and got hit by the train.

I'd pick a Pittsburgh / W. Va trip. Never been to W. Va and it looks like a lot of mountains and rivers with very few people. In Pitt the art museum at Carnegie Mellon is definitely worth a visit and the city itself is underrated.

this got me thinking that some of the XII destinations could sometimes be paired with an NFL game: WVU (Pittsburgh), Houston (Houston), TCU (Dallas), Cincinnati (Cincinnati), Kansas (KC), UCF (Jacksonville)
