What excuses are people going to come up with to explain/excuse CHawk's play?
I'd put up a poll, but I'm lazy.

I'm not the biggest fan of Cody right now, but the offensive line injuries isn't just a convenient "excuse," it's a fact. It is also not an excuse that our WRs are slow and prone to drops. There are not a whole lot of positives right now on offense. QB is definitely at or near the top of the list for me as far as concerns, but I'm not convinced everything is going to be solved by simply changing QBs.
Ballenger wasn't effective either. In fact, he was highly UNimpressive yesterday. He looked like the same QB he was in practice. One read, run, go down.Everyone points to injuries.... that's an excuse. How much of it has to do with the face that Cody isn't a threat and defenses can use 8 and 9 men in the box on every play. That alone shuts down the run, allows defenses to blitz like crazy.
Injuries play a part, but injuries can be overcome with the right offense.

I don't know what to tell you, other than the fact that we have lost five offensive linemen since Spring ball. How many other teams out there can say that?
That said, there are serious issues with the offense all the way around right now. QB, WRs, OL, and even basic gameplanning are all poor right now. I wish I could believe many of the problems would go away with a change at QB, but I don't think that is true unfortunately.

Oline is the engine that makes this offense run. look at the St. Louis rams. They had a damn good QB and an all pro RB. Oline went to ****, and how many games have they won since? 1?

Iagree with every thing you said, but let's not leave out the defense.Yes,they have played well at times and the offense has left them out on the field too long but....
We are a very poor tackling team, our cb's give far too much cushion(how come coaches keep playing this way when it's obvious it doesn't work?)no pressure and any play that gets to the edge or outside is a td waiting to haappen,we are slower than I thought.
People pointed to 2009, lots of questions on defense and didn't think I would be saying the offense too.

MMMMM blaming a defense that spends two thirds of the game on the field and only seems to wear down in the 4th quarter is easy to do and not right at all. The defense holds up their end of the bargain until they get worn down because our offense does NOTHING.
All I'm sayin is a QB that can make all the throws and open the playbook can take a LOT of heat off of a banged up offensive line.
Poor tackling for sure, but at least we're in the right position most plays, just not executing well enough. I actually think the defensive coaching hasn't been too bad this year. For the most part, guys have been in position to make plays and they're not making the tackles.
As far as the DL, I think they have been solid this year. They did a good job collapsing the pocket yesterday and generally kept Reesin contained. The LBs are very disappointing. The only playmakers there are Mohler and Jones, with Jones playing DE a good portion of the time. The secondary is all right, but the tackling there absolutely needs to improve.
For 2009, we're going to be young, but we should be faster. Cunningham is getting valuable experience at DT, as is Herrod. But obviously we'll need some other guys to step up for the DL to be decent next year. The LBs should be better next year, no excuses. Mohler will be back and the redshirt freshmen should be able to provide some much needed speed at that position. The Secondary should be about the same, better (and more experienced) at CB, but a dropoff at safety.
Either way, the defense will only be as good as the offense and special teams allow them to be. We put our defense in far too many short-field situations and we keep them on the field far too long.
Because once they make that switch, Ballenger needs to be the guy until or unless he gets hurt.
I looked it up... There is no rule stating that when a QB switch is made, that you can't reverse that decision.
I don't understand why we can't try something and if it doesn't work, make a switch? You have to be really hardheaded to keep doing the same thing and expect different results. Put Ballenger in, if he can't produce, let Nelson have a shot at it. If he can't do anything then hope it's Cody's day.
Worst passing game ever? wtf were you in 2006?What makes anyone rationally think CU will be better in 2009? What has the offense shown you that it will EVER be good with this scheme and this quarterbacking?
The only bright spot on this team is that it is literally impossible for the QB play to be any worse than it is right now. Seriously. 22 passes for 90 yards against not an elite defense? Lol?? That it is an uncommon level of incompetence. ... Might as well throw Boulder High's QB out there on the field, he would probably do a better job. This team has the worst passing game I have ever seen on any level in football and that starts and ends with the QB. CH wouldn't be effective with the Minnesota Vikings offensive line. This is plainly apparent by watching the games and there are no excuses for being this bad. The OL is a problem but the QB is a bigger problem.
i wasn't arguing with you. I was simply pointing out that you are over the top and are simply venting your spleen with little thought.Watching the Buffs lose? Arguing the difference in effectiveness between Bjax in 06 and Cody Hawkins in 08 is so pointless I can't even think of an appropriate analogy to illustrate the futility of both offenses.
Great argument though. He's better than a converted WR with no QB skills playing QB... marginally, so, by default, he's an allstar.
Ridiculous.

I think BJax was actually a better QB, but he actually had less offensive talent around him.
Right now, you've got to rate their arms as a wash, but at least BJax could avoid the rush.

I hope you're being sarcastic. I don't think I can take anything you say seriously after a post like that.
I was hoping the laughing would give away the sarcasm... but I'll verify it here.
