There is so much focus on the final plays of the game, people forget how horrible the field was. It was a sand based artificial turf. Prior to games, the manufacturer's instructions were that it needed to be watered to moisten the sand which is what Missouri did before every game. Well, except when CU showed up. They intentionally let the sand dry out so that it was like running on marbles. If you will remember, there were a multitude of plays where our pitch guy got the pitch and went to cut up a wide open field for a huge gain only to have his feet slide out from under him. It was an absolute travesty which deserved a lot more attention than it got because of the way the game ended. We would have won that game by double digits if not for the turf.
Anyway, listening to Pritch on with CJ and Klatt and with Mizzou coming up in a week and a half, I figured the "fifth down" game would come up sooner or later.
