'10 CO RB Mister Jones (Signed to Texas A&M)

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

After reading what happened I still like our shot with Jones. Some coaches want a commit when visiting. The guy still has a lot of time to spend with family over the holidays and see what he'd be missing if he left.

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

Hope you are right because we need some rb's in this class, id say at least 2.

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

I won't give up hope on Mister until the ink is dry on a Commitment Letter somewhere besides CU. Did he look at TAMU's depth chart at RB?

2010 recruits: Ben Malena (4* RB rated higher than Mister Jones)
2010 Freshmen: Kalvin Guyton (3*, redshirted)
2010 Sophomores: Christine Michael (5* co-starter: 767 yards), Jay Tolliver (2*)
2010 Juniors: Cyrus Gray (4* starter: 752 yards), Bradley Stephens (4* 3rd string: 132 yards)

If Mister commits to TAMU, there's a good chance they'll want to switch him to linebacker. That's what the Aggie message boards are saying, at least. Whether he ends up choosing CU or not, Texas A&M is a bad decision for Mister Jones.

Texas A&M just gained a commitment from another running back that all 3 scouting services have rated higher than Mister Jones:

RB DJ Jones, TX (Rivals 4*, Scout 3*, ESPN 3*)

One has to question the advice Mister is getting if he sticks with TAMU.

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

Mister, stay home and run behind Ralphie and have your friends and family check you out 20 minutes from your home!!!

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

He will be back. It was his first and ony real trip away from home and they put together a good pitch. But in the end, I'm thinking Mister get's it all figured out.

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

Precisely why the NCAA has this lovely "quiet period" right now, and recruits and their families get to look at all the pros and cons and be sure their decision will stick in Feb.

The coolest thing for Mister Jones is that his siblings and moms could get to Boulder and watch all his home games... IF he is at CU.
If he's close to them, that would be super important.

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

My own kids talked about going back East or to the West Coast but when it came time to really make a choice, they stayed within 1 hour of home. Away, but home. All their friends who took off for far away destinations, about 80% lasted a year and figured out "that was cool" but how do you beat Colorado? and they came back.

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

well I hope the coaches are not just sitting back thinking the Mister is going to stay home.....they need to let it be know, that he his wanted and needed at CU...would love to see this kid in B&G

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

Story on Rivals this morning adds to the intrigue:

Looks like the Aggies added another 4* running back to their roster.

In part:

In one of the best kept secrets of the 2010 recruiting season, it looks like Texas A&M have added their second four-star running back named Jones in as many weeks.

Denison four-star running back D.J. Jones committed to Texas A&M.

The A&M staff landed Littleton, Colo., running back Mister Jones last weekend as the big back switched his commitment from the Buffaloes to the Aggies in somewhat of a surprise. The A&M coaches then stopped by Denison High School early this past week and visited with running back D.J. Jones.

He is their "...third four-star running back along with Mister Jones and Cedar Hill running back Ben Malena."

Interesting depth chart. Someone is going to get buried with all that talent, but <strike>who</strike>
whom?

FWIW, the Aggie boards are saying that they expect Mister to move to linebacker. They're also saying they don't think he'll qualify academically and, if not, no big deal.

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

Hopefully he will recognize the situation. aTm gets the huge majority of their recruits out of Texas. All things being relatively equal the coaches will give preference to the Texas players in order to insure continued goodwill with the Texas coaches and HS players. What this means is that in order for him to play ahead of the other backs he will not only have to be better but substantially better and even then he might not get a fair deal.

This is not just speculation but based on what has happened to a lot of Colorado HS recruits who have gone out of state and experienced similar things. Many have gone on to successfull college careers at schools all over the country including in Texas but generally speaking they are going to get the best deal close to home.

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

Texas A&M is not the only team we need to worry about here.

I know. I think Kansas is making a push.

What really sucks is that KU and TAMU are 2 of the teams we beat this year.

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

MJ has to compete against a Cyrus Gray, a 5* they signed last year, and 2 other 4* RB's that they're bringing in WITH MJ.

Hope he understands early PT doesn't look too good.

And Christine Michael their 4* starter

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

Irish did a nice job over on Ralphie Report summarizing the TAMU RB depth and current RB recruiting class. Good read.

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

Sherman looks like he's wearing Mom Jeans.

Re: '10 CO RB Mister Jones (Committed to Texas A&M)

There's talk that Jones may visit Kansas.

The boy sounds a bit confused.

The academic issues are still present too. Hopefully everything gets all sorted out.

Don't blame Hawkins for this one. This F up is squarely on the shoulders of Darian Hagan. Can't get into great detail, but he made a miscalculation with the kids mommy.

Wait...is a HC not responsible for his assistants? Blame it on both Danny and Darian.

You're kidding right?

Yeah, guess it wasn't a far reach to figure out he had some hand in it, not to mention the 3-9 showing. But, it also looks like PB had some amplifying info that in the (unfortunate) long run isn't too surprising either.:bang:
